XG announced a bold evolution in their identity on Japan’s Coming-of-Age Day, redefining their name from “Xtraordinary Girls” to “Xtraordinary Genes.” The seven-member group, consisting of JURIN, CHISA, HINATA, HARVEY, JURIA, MAYA, and COCONA, made the shift as all members officially enter their twenties. The new meaning reframes their identity from an external label into something innate: the core creativity, individuality, and cultural instinct that drive everything they create. In their official statement, XG explained that “Genes” represents the power and creativity within their core, along with their spirit of continuously creating new culture without being bound by conventional norms. The announcement arrives alongside the unveiling of their second world tour, “XG WORLD TOUR: THE CORE,” kicking off at K-Arena Yokohama on 6 February 2026. Following their first tour in 2024, which drew 400,000 attendees across 47 shows and culminated at Tokyo Dome with 50,000 fans, the new tour promises performances across Japan, Asia, North America, Europe, Australia, and Latin America.
XG’s first full-length album, ‘THE CORE – 核,’ drops on 23 January 2026 and traces the group’s identity across genres and eras with tracks including “XIGNAL (The Intro),” “ROCK THE BOAT,” and pre-release single “4 SEASONS.” The album solidifies the new X-POP genre XG continues to define while showcasing their unflinching artistry. Their journey includes becoming the first Japanese artist to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs Powered by Twitter weekly chart, appearing on the cover of Billboard magazine, and making their first-ever entry on the Billboard 200 with their second mini album ‘AWE’ in November 2024. At Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2025, XG headlined the Sahara stage as the only Japanese artist performing, receiving high acclaim from media worldwide. The shift to “Xtraordinary Genes” captures something powerful: a return to origin, from Girls as the beginning to Genes as the source, sharpening their identity and moving forward with creative conviction.
