Joseph Brooks Organ Unpacks a Love Ultimately Lost in New Album “Lovelorn”

0

Canadian singer/songwriter Joseph Brooks Organ is anything but bereft as he celebrates the release of his freshly pressed album offering, Lovelorn — available now.

From start to finish, lush arrangements reinforce Organ’s lyrical storytelling, field guiding listeners along a narrative path through all the stages — for better or worse — of a love ultimately lost.

There’s hand wringing, there’s reflection, and even a dark comedic underbelly; in other words, it’s Joseph Brooks Organ’s signature song-based storytelling in prime form.

Mixed, mastered and featuring Damian Dobrowolski (Re:Verse, Tribe Called Red), the release also showcases the sonic stylings of Zach Bines (Weaves, Tim Baker, Sarah Harmer), Michael Tobin (L’Dor V’Dor, I Lost My Mind), Anh Phung (Hairbrain, Tullstars), Daniel Pencer (Andy Shauf), Taylor McGee (Musica Reflecta), Andrea Stewart (Collectif 9), and Spencer Cole (Weaves).

“This album was recorded in nine separate locations by nine different musicians,” Organ explains, noting the constraints in place due to COVID-19. “Eight of the musicians recorded in their apartments; Michael recorded his vocals for ‘Best So’ under a blanket in Toronto’s High Park, much to the consternation of a dog that can be heard barking.

“Lovelorn is the product of endless emails back and forth with scores, recordings, and edits — most of which would’ve been unnecessary were we to have simply rehearsed and recorded in-studio together in the traditional way,” he continues. “The result is something different…

“In a way, it’s more special than if we had done it the conventional way. It feels very much to us like a testament to the power of the ‘will to create’ — that it transcends the limitations placed upon us by even global pandemic-levels of extenuating circumstances.

“Even during such complicated and difficult times, we had to make this record — and we did!”

Originally from London, Ontario, Joseph Brooks Organ has been a long-lauded fixture of the Toronto scene for nearly two decades by way of many music projects and collaborations — including his main live project, Moves, alongside Zach Bines and Spencer Cole (both featured on Lovelorn and also in the band, Weaves).

With songwriting talents that span the likes of choral works, chamber music, and musical theatre, to folk, punk, pop, and ambient — and everything in between — he’s released a dynamic series of offerings, including 2013’s debut EP Tape, the five-track collection Some Singles, a trio dubbed January 2012 Sessions, a double-single “Sunshine/Day Lady,” and now Lovelorn.

Rolex: A Timeless Piece Of Luxury

0

Rolex is a world-famous Swiss luxury watch manufacturing company that is originally based in Geneva, Switzerland. In its initial days, this company was originally founded by the name of Wilsdorf and Davis by two people named Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis in London, in the year 1905. Later in the year 1908, Rolex was registered as a brand, and its name became Rolex watch co. Ltd in the year 1915.

The headquarters of the company was previously located elsewhere, but after World War 1, they were forced to shift the headquarters and the base of their operations to Geneva because of the unfavourable economic condition and social condition in Britain. The name of this company has been changed multiple times by the owners, but finally, in modern times, it stands as “Rolex SA”. Since the year 1960 till now, this watch manufacturing company has been owned by a private family trust called the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation.

Rolex has been one of the best watch manufacturing companies in the luxury market and stands out for its explicit designs and innovative innovations. In the year 2018, Rolex was ranked as the world’s 71st most valuable brand by Forbes. The data record of 2019 shows us that as of that time, among the world’s most expensive ten luxury watches which were sold in the auction, three were Rolex.

The Rolex Institute

Rolex, as a brand, has created the Rolex Institute for a specific purpose. The purpose was to support and help specific kinds of people or events which stand in line with the brand values. The entire Idea was incorporated through two distinct programs designed by the company. The first program is known as the Rolex awards, which is specifically designed for the enterprise. This is a very which was first started in the year 1976 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the oyster watch. This award is specially designed to appreciate enterprising individuals from all across the world who initiate different kinds of projects making the world a better place. Winners of this award receive a cash prize along with exclusive media coverage.

The second program is known as the Rolex Mentor and Protege Arts Initiative. This event happens to be a biennial philanthropic program that was first launched in the year 2002. The main aim of this program is to bring together extremely talented and gifted young artists face to face with globally recognised Masters in various different fields like music, dance, film, literature, architecture, visual arts and theatre. This program enables beautiful creative collaborations between different talents as a result of which new inventions are made every year.

These watches are made for every person, every situation and every possibility.

The most fascinating part of owning a Rolex watch is that it is truly going to last forever and be a part of oneself throughout his lifetime. the incredible and dedicated watchmakers, designers and engineers have transferred their skill and knowledge precisely into each and every Rolex watch which makes it a unique possession of pride and culture.

What goes behind making Rolex watches?

Each and every little part of a Rolex watch is equally important, and special care is taken to develop and design each part of every watch. a team of experts select the materials which go behind making every single part of every Rolex watch, and the material selection is never compromised. Every watch is designed and developed by a team of extremely talented and skilled professionals who make sure that these watches become a timeless piece of luxury for anybody who owns them. Sure Bets That Make A Profit: Welcome to Arbitrage Betting

0

Punters and betting fans are always on the lookout for anything that can give them an edge while placing their bets, whether it be a strategy, information or even luck. However, there are some sports betting strategies that have been around ever since betting has existed which makes it possible for people to earn significant amounts without too much risk. One of these is is the process of arbitrage betting – it is a concept taken from financial markets which works quite well in the betting industry as well.

Arbitrage is the practice of buying an asset in one market to sell it immediately in a different market at a higher price. It takes advantage of the same asset being mispriced in different markets – either lower or higher, which guarantees a profit. This is something that is seen often in financial markets, where minute differences between the price of the same asset in different markets are immediately exploited, which then closes the gap and makes the price the same. It is therefore essential that these differences are exploited immediately, since they will not exist for too long.

In the betting industry, arbitrage is the process of covering all results of a sporting event, so that you make a profit regardless of the outcome. This is possible since different betting exchanges will have different odds for the same event, making it possible to bet for and against the same outcome, at different prices, guaranteeing a profit.

Punters need to bet on one site at a high price, and against that outcome on a different site at a low price, for arbitrage betting to work. These are also known as ‘sure bets’ in Europe, since the profit is guaranteed and known even before the match begins. However, it is not easy to take advantage of these opportunities, and bettors will need a higher level of knowledge than the average punter to be able to execute these strategies successfully.

Odds offered will be different between bookmakers and betting exchanges, which is where this strategy can be used. For example, this can be employed when the back odds at the bookmaker are lower than the lay odds at the exchange, creating an arbitrage opportunity.

However, while this strategy can offer consistent profits, it must be remembered that those profits will usually be small. It is rare to come across an arbitrage opportunity that will offer more than 5% profit, for example. Therefore, it is always a case of having lots of small profits rather than trying to win big, which is what most gamblers tend to go for. The size of your profits will depend on your bankroll, the number of bets you place and the size of the arbitrage. It is also necessary to have accounts with as many bookmakers as possible, since these opportunities will pop up hundreds of times a day across bookmakers, but if you need to create an account with one, it will probably have gone by the time you are ready to place your bet. Thus, timing plays a big role in these opportunities, and so you do need to constantly monitor odds across markets to be able to take advantage of any opportunity the moment it crops up.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s Debut Celebrates 50 Years With 4-CD/1-LP And 2 Hours Of Rare And Unreleased Music

0

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s Déjà Vu was the most-anticipated new album in America in 1970. More than 50 years later, it’s one of the most famous albums in rock history with legendary songs, including “Carry On” and “Teach Your Children,” that still resonate today.

Rhino will honor the intense creative journey that led to this milestone album with an expansive 4-CD/1-LP collection that includes a pristine version of the original album on both 180-gram vinyl and CD, plus hours of rare and unreleased studio recordings that provide incredible insight into the making of the record. The previously unreleased demo for “Birds” that was recorded during the sessions is available today on all digital download and streaming services.

DÉJÀ VU: 50TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION will be available from Rhino on May 14. Presented in a 12 x 12 hardcover book, the collection comes illustrated with rarely seen photos from the era and annotated by writer/filmmaker Cameron Crowe, whose revealing liner notes recount the making of the album through stories told by the people who were there, including David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Neil Young. On the same day, a deluxe vinyl version will also be available with the full content across 5 LPs of 180-gram vinyl. The deluxe vinyl version is available for pre-order now exclusively at CSNY50.com. The music will also be available on digital download and streaming services and in high-resolution audio at www.neilyoungarchives.com. Customers that purchase any version of the release at CSNY50.com will receive a high-resolution download version as well.

A new line of CSNY Déjà Vu-themed, organic merch made from sustainably sourced materials is also available today exclusively at CSNY50.com.

Crowe recalls in the liner notes that “Déjà Vu caught the zeitgeist perfectly” and “might just be the legendary band’s most accurate portrait of their fiery individualism.” Of this new Deluxe Edition, Crowe opines: “50 years later, with the sonic aperture fully opened, it’s a wide-screen look at the big picture of Déjà Vu, with more music, including a batch of surprises, unseen photos, and a lot more clarity.”

On the new anniversary edition, the album’s original 10 tracks are joined by 38 more to add nearly two-and-a-half hours of music that includes demos, outtakes, and alternate takes – most of which are previously unreleased. Among them is “Know You Got To Run,” the first song the quartet recorded during its first session on July 15 at the house Stills was renting from Peter Tork in Studio City.

Other unreleased highlights include the demo for Crosby’s “Almost Cut My Hair”; Stills’ outtake for “Bluebird Revisited”; and Young’s alternate version of “Helpless” featuring harmonica. Also making its debut on the set is a delightful version of “Our House” that features Nash singing with the song’s inspiration, Joni Mitchell.

k.d. lang’s ‘makeover’ Due May 28

0

In celebration of Pride Month, Nonesuch Records will release k.d. lang’s makeover, a new collection of classic dance remixes of some of her best-loved songs on May 28, 2021, including on translucent turquoise vinyl. The album brings these remixes, made between 1992 and 2000, together for the first time, and includes “Sexuality,” “Miss Chatelaine,” “Theme from The Valley of the Dolls,” “Summerfling,” and the #1 dance chart hits “Lifted By Love” and “If I Were You.” makeover’s cover art features a previously unseen 1995 portrait of lang by David LaChapelle. Nonesuch Store pre-orders include an instant download of “Miss Chatelaine (St. Tropez Mix),” the video for which can be seen below; an exclusive, limited-edition print of the album cover signed by lang; and a paper doll PDF set, designed by a fan—Katja Virtanen of Finland—to print out at home, featuring iconic looks from throughout her career.

“I had the idea of putting together a dance remix compilation, as I mused about how we built community in those days before the internet, mobile devices, and dating apps,” lang says. “Those dance clubs were a key to a world, which was still called ‘underground’ in the ’90s. I also surprised myself by finding that there was a cryptic, sort of secret zone in my career, that hadn’t been explored, overlooked even by me. Two of these tracks had even hit #1 on the dance charts!”

Called “one of the greatest singers of all time,” by Elton John and “the greatest female singer in the whole world” by fellow Canadian Michael Bublé, k.d. lang’s distinguished career includes four Grammy and eight Juno Awards. In addition to a fruitful collaboration with Tony Bennett (who calls her “the best singer of her generation”), lang has performed alongside luminaries including Roy Orbison, Bonnie Raitt, Elton John, and Loretta Lynn. She sang at the closing ceremonies of the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary and the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. lang has contributed music to the soundtracks of several films, including Even Cowgirls Get the BluesMidnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, and Happy Feet. She has also appeared in a number of films, including SalmonberriesThe Black Dahlia, and Eye of the Beholder. In 1996, lang received Canada’s highest civilian honor, the Order of Canada.

lang released her first album with Nonesuch Records in 2004, the acclaimed and highly personal “Canadian songbook,” Hymns of the 49th Parallel, featuring work by Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Jane Siberry, and others. Her subsequent releases on the label include Watershed (2008), her first career retrospective Recollection (2010), and Sing It Loud (2011). Most recently, Nonesuch released Ingénue: 25th Anniversary Edition in 2017, comprising lang’s multi-platinum, Grammy Award–winning original album, as well as the previously unreleased 1993 MTV Unplugged performances. In the words of Uncut magazine, “Ingénue still dazzles, 25 years on. Luminous, languid and seductive to the point of intoxication. This reissue proves its status as a modern classic.” To coincide with the anniversary, lang performed sold-out concerts in Canada, the US, Australia, UK, and Ireland; a DVD of the show, Ingénue Redux: Live from The Majestic Theatre, was released in 2018. “A canny and sumptuous blend of roots music and pre-rock pop, Ingénue sounds as great today as it did upon its release. The songs shimmered with dreamy textures,” wrote the Los Angeles Times. “lang is so good that she is in a class of her own. Wow. Just wow. Most other singers should just give up now,” proclaimed the Daily Telegraph.

Merv Griffin Talks To DEVO After A Performance And…Well…

0

The Merv Griffin Show in 1980 had a feature appearance by Devo, who performed two songs, Whip It, and Girl You Want. During the chit-chat, it went as well as you would think.

This was a terrific group here, strange instruments though Jerry. Nothing we’ve seen before on this planet. …It’s hard to believe this group came out of Akron Ohio …they came out of there by popular request …oh boy it all works I’ll tell you and it must be a thrill to have a big commercial hit now huh.
