The Most Famous Casino-Themed Pop Songs

0

The glamour and excitement of casinos have been the inspiration for pop songs for decades, from Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley to Katy Perry and Mumford & Sons. If you are looking for some music to listen to while you play online bingo, consider some of the options here:

The Gambler

Artist: Kenny Rogers

Released in 1978, “The Gambler” was written by the Nashville songwriter Don Schlitz. About poker, a game at all casinos land-based or online like cherry jackpot casino, the classic chorus lines, “You’ve got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em,” is about a conversation with an old poker player on a train about poker and life. For Kenny Rogers, The Gambler gave him the title track to his biggest-selling album.

Luck Be A Lady

Artist: Frank Sinatra

Written by Frank Loesser in 1950 for the musical Guys and Dolls, this song was first performed in the theatre version by Robert Alda as gambler Sky Masterson.  The lead role in the 1955 film version was Marlon Brando, with Frank Sinatra as Nathan Detroit. Frank Sinatra went on to become a regular at Las Vegas casinos during the1950s and 60s heyday and the song that he is probably most famous for sees him praying for the Craps gods to be on his side.

Waking Up In Vegas

Artist: Katy Perry

Written by Katy Perry in collaboration with Desmond Child and Swedish songwriter and producer Andreas Carlsson, a lot happens in Katy Perry’s 2009 song, including dressing up as Elvis and getting married to a stranger, which is what you get from waking up in Vegas. Perry has described Vegas as “an iconic place where lots of trouble goes down,” and says the song is fun and about getting into trouble and not regretting it. The song went to number one in charts about five years after it was actually written.

Snake Eyes

Artist: Mumford & Sons

British folk-rock band Mumford & Sons wrote this melodic track in 2015, about a man down on his luck who is pining for a former girlfriend, a dangerous and deceptive woman. Snake Eyes is a term for the ex, but also used for one of the worst rolls possible, double one in Craps, and is used in the song to describe the man’s bad luck leading him to lose everything.

Viva Las Vegas

Artist: Elvis Presley

Written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman in 1963 as the title song for the film of the same name starring Elvis Presley, one of his most famous and enduring movies. In the movie, the Elvis’ character is from out of town, and he has that enthusiasm and awe that comes with the chance of hitting it rich in the city, trying to win enough cash to buy himself a new car. The song has been used to promote Sin City since it captures the glitz and glamour with the promise: “If I wind up broke up well, I’ll always remember that I had a swingin’ time”.

Imelda May and Noel Gallagher Release New Single Featuring Ronnie Wood, “Just One Kiss”

0

Globally revered Irish artist Imelda May makes an eagerly awaited return with her first new music in four years. Her brand-new single “Just One Kiss” is straight down dirty rock n roll, joined by close friends and music legends Noel Gallagher on vocals and Ronnie Wood on guitar.

Imelda delves into desire, both romantic and carnal with “Just One Kiss,” It is a deliciously lustful low-slung blues number which showcases Imelda’s prowess as a wordsmith and storyteller, and of course – that mesmerizing voice. “That moment you know it can go either way. The sharp notion if you succumb you might just lose control. The split second decision you know might change everything, with just one kiss. Could you resist?”

After an idle texting exchange with her friend Noel Gallagher, he happily joined in to duet with Imelda and brought his “great vibe and kick-ass voice” to the steamy rock tale.

On guitar Wood, also a long-term pal (they met when they shared a stage in a Dublin blues basement when she was only 16) brings an alley-cat energy to the rollicking tune. Imelda says, “He’s just joyous to be around. It’s infectious. He’s fast, really on-the-ball, and he knows intuitively when something is working.”

Her sixth studio album 11 Past The Hour is a record that brims with sensuality, emotional intelligence, spirituality and intuition, marking a new chapter for Imelda and showcasing her at her most authentic. With pals and collaborators like Wood, Gallagher and Miles Kane, and with inspired contributions from feminist thinkers and activists such as Gina Martin and Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, the album is an invigorating blast of rock’n’roll, with a purpose.

Mostly written with co-producer Tim Bran (London Grammar, Primal Scream) and string arranger Davide Rossi (Coldplay, U2, Goldfrapp), this brave album shows an artist diving deep into her true self, her Irish roots, her love of storytelling and singing from her soul: “11 Past the Hour is my truth. I always write with meaning and from my heart as that’s the reason I write, to connect with my own story at each particular moment and I hope therefore I connect with others during theirs, even if just for a while. I’d like to think I can put into words and music what we all feel sometimes. We all laugh, sing, love, cry, dance, kiss, care. We all experience lust, anger, joy, worry, sorrow and hope. Sometimes we stay silent and hold it all in and sometimes we dance and throw it all to the wind with abandon but one thing is for sure is we are in this life together. Each song is a moment in my life. Each life is a moment in time. Every minute counts.”

The title track (written with Pedro Vito) opens the album with characteristic poetic vividness recalling the romance noir of a lost David Lynch soundtrack, while “Made To Love” is an anthem celebrating acceptance/LGBTQ+ communities and the startling piano ballad “Diamonds” (co-written with Ivor Novello winner Sacha Skarbeck) is a stirring stand out about digging deep to appreciate the true simplicity of love. Then, switching things up again, is the galloping Eighties pop-goth synth romp of “What We Did In The Dark,” a duet with Miles Kane. Just a few of the variety of views, multiplicity of voices, range of emotions and exciting, adventurous spread of sounds on 11 Past The Hour. But holding it all together is the big-hearted, big-thinking woman at the centre of it.

Born and raised in The Liberties area of Dublin, Imelda has become one of Ireland’s most famed female artists in history. Discovered by Jools Holland, who asked Imelda to go on tour with him, Imelda has gone on to perform duets with artists including U2, Lou Reed, Sinead O Connor, Robert Plant, Van Morrison, Jack Savoretti and Elvis Costello and has featured on recent albums & live tours with Jeff Beck, Jeff Goldblum and Ronnie Wood.

Her last album landed at No.5 in the UK Official Album Chart and she can count such artists as Bob Dylan and Bono amongst her fans. Last year, her 2008 album Love Tattoo was named the bestselling album of modern chart history by a homegrown female Irish artist by the Official Charts Company. Last summer, Imelda released her debut poetry EP Slip of the Tongue to widespread critical acclaim and received global recognition for her poem “You Don’t Get To Be Racist and Irish” used by the Irish government’s ReThink Ireland campaign for billboards across the country.

As ever, Imelda manages to cut through the noise, bringing her rich, sensual voice and exuberant personality to everyone and everything around her. 11 Past The Hour is an album of grit and glamour, of wee hours vocal huskiness and anthemic pop belters. Of poetry and power. Of love and sex and fun – this is Imelda May. This is her time.

11 Past The Hour is out on April 23.

How memes have taken over the internet

0

Almost everyone on the internet is talking about memes. Memes have taken over the internet, and this new viral phenomenon has gained a loyal online audience. Whether you love them or hate them, you can’t deny that memes have become a part of most people’s social experience online.

In the beginning, memes were seen as just a silly little trend that would fade away. But they haven’t faded away. They have become a permanent part of the internet, and if you have a social media account, there is no doubt that you are familiar with memes. If you aren’t familiar with memes, think of them as a funny photo or phrase repeated repeatedly on different social media accounts. They are usually taken out of context from something else, such as popular movies or television shows.

What makes memes so funny?

Memes are funny because they are relatable like the Thug Life Meme is. When you see a meme that your friends or family members have shared, it makes you think of similar experiences from your own life. You know how it feels to be in the same situation, and you can connect with the image more profoundly. Memes are also funny because they are random. Unlike traditional jokes with a beginning, middle, and end, memes don’t always follow a linear path. Many people compare them to riddles because they are quick and simple.

Memes are popular because you can create your own

People love the idea of being able to create something and share it with their friends. Many sites allow you to quickly and easily add text over popular images to create memes that you can then share with others. On top of that, you can also upload your own images or videos to create memes from scratch. It’s easy and fun to create your own memes, and more people are doing so than ever before. There are even subreddits on Reddit dedicated to nothing but posting memes that people created themselves.

How do memes spread so fast?

Memes are shared quickly because we want to share things with other people that we think they will like. We want our friends to think we are funny, so we share memes that we think will get a hilarious response. The best memes gain popularity quickly and get shared by everyone. Sometimes, there are so many different variations of the same meme that it’s hard to keep track of them all.

People spend a surprising amount of time reading memes

How much time do you spend on Facebook, Reddit, or Twitter reading memes? The truth is, you probably don’t want to answer that question. You likely spend a lot of time reading memes, and you may even spend more time scrolling through memes than you do actually talking to people. Memes are a big part of the online social experience, and it’s not something that you want to miss out on.

The next time you’re scrolling through your timeline and a meme pops up, you’ll think of it differently. You’ll think about the person who created it and the random thoughts that popped into their head when they created it. More importantly, you’ll understand why people are sharing the meme and how it took off like a rocket to become instantly internet famous.

Most expensive cars owned by American musicians

0

Rappers are among the celebrities who like to make a statement, be it through their clothing, smartphones, property and lavish lifestyle (which includes cars – really expensive cars). Well, you all know that Jay Z has a Maybach Exelero which cost him $8 million. You didn’t? Now you know. Sometimes, the rappers prefer a colour or a shade of colour which is very different from the ‘rest’ of the other supercar owners. Many rappers prefer big cars (big as in SUVs) and mod them to their heart’s extent via nice mod houses. Talking of big SUVs, one staple SUV is the Lamborghini Urus and if you want a different coloured Urus than everyone else, you have the 2021 Lamborghini Urus Pearl Capsule which enables the rappers to option their Urus from a variety of pearl colours and elements which embrace the carmaker’s tradition.

When they have a sporty SUV in their garage, the next probable choice is an ultimate luxury car. when we talk of luxury, we don’t mean Lexus LS 500 luxury, we mean Rolls Royce Luxury! Among the Rolls Royce cars, the 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost carries quite a fanbase due to it being the ‘cheaper’ Rolls and also due to the fact that being in a lower price bracket doesn’t mean that you’re deprived of any luxury feature that the Phantom gets! Enough said, let’s take you through a list of the most expensive cars that rappers own:

1. Jay Z – Maybach Exelero – $8 Million

Jay Z is, apart from being a rapper, a very accomplished businessman and currently worth nearly $1 Billion. Yes, you read that right! A Billion Dollars!! Having said that, the Maybach Exelero’s price tag isn’t even a chink on his armour. The Exelero was the pinnacle of what a sports car could be in terms of performance and luxury back in 2004. Manufactured by Stola and DaimlerChrysler, the Exelero is powered by a massive 5.9L V12 which also packs a couple of air suckers (turbochargers) to put out 690 horses and 752 lb-ft of torque! It was a one-off car and the company has officially cleared that it doesn’t plan to make any more of these beauties, leaving the Exelero with Jay Z the only one in the world! Talk about exclusivity!

2. Birdman – Lamborghini Veneno – $4 Million

Birdman is clearly one of those rappers who aren’t shy of showing his car collection to the world. Well, there were rumours about Birdman buying the Maybach Exelero mentioned above from fellow rapper Jay Z but then, the former also declared his desire to be driving a Lamborghini Veneno. Lo and behold! The Cash Money CEO got one of the rarest Lamborghinis in the world – the Lamborghini Veneno 50th Anniversary – of which only 3 units were produced! Exclusivity was turned down a notch but the Veneno is still a sight to see when on the road! Talking of specs, the Veneno loads in a 6.5L V12 which pushes out a massive 740 horses and 509 lb-ft of torque! The Veneno shows no mercy while being pushed to its limits on a track and to do so, it is filled to the brim with weight-saving tech and made of lighter materials. The engine also included some of the rarest and most expensive materials to be ever used in a car and we cannot fathom the extent the insurance for such a car will fetch if things were to go South!

3. Pharrell – Ferrari Enzo – $2.5 Million

Pharrell has been one of the most consistent people in the industry and when you’re in the industry for such a long time, you do have a lot of money earned through various streams. Also, Pharrell is one of those who have a taste in cars, which is appreciated by many globally. His garage includes many legendary cars like Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren which is a collector’s car and has aged like fine wine, just like its owner. For some relaxed drives, there are a couple of Rolls Royce in his garage. There was also a Bentley, the model of which the rapper didn’t disclose, which didn’t suit him and was sold off afterwards. Out of all these is the most valuable possession – a 2003 Ferrari Enzo! The Ferrari Enzo was named after the founder of the Italian carmaker, Enzo Ferrari, and I powered by a 6.0L screaming naturally-aspirated V12 which redlines at 8,200 RPMs and might cause some people’s eardrums to shatter. Well, the exhaust note is a love/hate relationship with the majority of the people falling towards ‘love’ side of things! The Enzo is believed to be the last of its kind – the last naturally-aspirated hyper-car with a big engine and massive redline – and due to this exclusivity, coupled with the badge and what the car provides overall – a Ferrari Enzo can still fetch between $2 million to $3 million easy!

4. The Game – Bugatti Veyron – $2.2 Million

Well, you surely have some success in your life if your name is “The Game” (pun intended)! Well, Jayceon Terrell Taylor surely has some success written in his story after being the best-known rapper in the West Coast hip hop culture and also for being one of the signees under Dr Dre after Aftermath. Well, what do you do when you earn a tonne of $s and don’t really know any traditional investment avenues? The obvious answer here is – a car that used to hold the record for being the fastest production car! The Bugatti Veyron. A gift for his 33rd birthday, the Veyron’s specifications are very renowned in the car community but for the people new to this side of the world, this hyper-car has 8.0L W16 which has FOUR air-suckers along with it! All of the mechanical gizmos is worth 1,200 horsepower and a maximum torque of a massive 1,106 lb-ft. This torque figure is more than some of the diesel-powered trucks in the world! The Game will not be shattering any speed records but prefers to keep the Veyron as a car for when he wants to cruise comfortably and enjoy the quad-turbos doing their work!

5. Jay Z – Pagani Zonda Roadster – $1.7 Million

Jay Z likes his cars rare and exclusive – just like the Italian Pagani Zonda Roadster. Not as mainstream, dare I say, as Ferrari and Lamborghini, cars from Pagani have seen fewer homes in the past which automatically translates to pure exclusivity. Jay Z is one of the lucky few who made it to the list of 140 people who could buy the car. Powering this rarity is a 7.3L (!) naturally-aspirated V12 which was designed and manufactured by a rather mainstream German company – Mercedes-AMG. This beauty was capable of pushing out 547 horses easy along with 553 lb-ft of torque. What makes this car special is that it was meant to be a track weapon and was destined to carve out lap times on any track you put it on. Many changes were made to the coupe to balance out the added weight of the Roadster. All of that being said, it is one of the cars which the rapper refers to park in his garage and is rarely spotted on the roads.

Megan Thee Stallion),” available now at all DSPs and streaming services HERE. Currently certified 3x platinum by the RIAA, “WAP” debuted at #1 on the Billboard “Hot 100” upon its August release – Cardi’s fourth #1 single in the US, extending her record as the female rapper with the most #1 singles in “Hot 100” history and affirming her as the only female rapper to have reach #1 on the “Hot 100” in two different decades. The track – which went on to spend four weeks atop the “Hot 100” while also spending multiple weeks at #1 in Australia, Canada, Greece, Ireland, Lithuania, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom – made further history as the first #1 single on the inaugural Billboard “Global 200,” topping that chart for three weeks.

In addition, “WAP” shattered multiple records, including the largest opening streaming week for a song in US chart history (93M), the highest streaming first week by a female artist, and one of the top 3 hip-hop streaming debuts of all time. What’s more, the track confirmed Cardi as the first female rapper to have two songs hit #1 on Spotify’s “Global Top 200” chart as well as one of Apple Music’s most popular artists of all time, earning the platform’s highest ever debut by a female artist as well as the fastest song in Apple Music history by a female artist to peak at #1. “WAP” marked Cardi’s seventh #1 track at Apple Music – the most by any female artist in the service’s five-year history.

“WAP (Feat. Megan Thee Stallion)“ is joined by an equally popular official companion video, now boasting more than 335M views via YouTube alone HERE. Directed by Colin Tilley and featuring cameos from an all-female cast that includes Normani, Kylie Jenner, Rosalía, Mulatto, Rubi Rose, and Sukihana, the video also proved a record-shattering landmark, earning the biggest 24-hour debut for an all-female collaboration in YouTube history.

Hailed by the Los Angeles Times as “a savage, nasty, sex-positive triumph.,” “WAP (Feat. Megan Thee Stallion)” was a worldwide critical favorite, ultimately named as the “Best Song of 2020” by such top outlets as the BBC, Genius, NME, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and Uproxx. In addition, “WAP” has been honored with a range of awards and nominations, including the American Music Award for “Favorite Song – Rap/Hip-Hop)” and the People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Collaboration of 2020,” to name but a few.

Cardi B’s rambunctious spirit and brave tongue garnered instant online popularity, rapidly increasing her fan base. She has evolved into an entertainer, actress and a renowned rapper in just a short time. Cardi rose to rap success and fame, releasing her debut studio album INVASION OF PRIVACY in 2018. Cardi continues to be at the top of her game as the first woman with five simultaneous Top 10 hits on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart as well as the first female rapper with four Billboard Hot 100 #1s. Now a GRAMMY AWARD WINNING rap superstar, Cardi’s 3x Platinum selling debut album INVASION OF PRIVACY debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album includes the 9x RIAA platinum certified classic “Bodak Yellow,” and all 13 tracks on Invasion of Privacy have been RIAA certified Gold or higher – making Cardi the first female artist to achieve this feat. Cardi’s single “Money” is now RIAA 4x Platinum certified, and her recent single “Press” is now RIAA certified Platinum.

Does Everyone Benefit? How Class Action Lawsuits Work

0

Class action lawsuits tend to make headlines, especially when they’re filed against major companies or renowned institutions.

For example, you may have seen the recent class action lawsuit brought against Sony because their new PS5 DualSense controller came out with defects–and Sony may have known about it.

Unless you’ve ever been involved in a class action like the rybelsus lawsuit, you probably wonder how they work. In the case of the lawsuit brought against Sony, who is going to benefit? Why?

Read on to learn the basics of class action lawsuits, why they’re filed, and who stands to benefit from them.

What Is a Class Action Lawsuit?

A class action lawsuit is a civil lawsuit filed against one entity on behalf of several individuals. It may be filed by one major representative, as was the case in the Sweet Law class action filed against UCLA, or it may be brought on by a number of people.

Lawyers lean toward class action lawsuits when too many people have been affected by the same or similar form of harm to file individual lawsuits. In the Sony case we referenced earlier, the lawsuit is filed on behalf of all consumers who purchased and received a faulty controller. The objective is to rectify this financial blow for every person who was affected by it.
