Popcaan Unveils Surprise Fixtape On Unruly / OVO Sound

Popcaan has unveiled a new project titled FIXTAPE via Unruly / OVO Sound. The release follows Popcaan’s surprise announcement of the project on socials less than 24 hours ago. FIXTAPE arrives as the dancehall icon caps off Jamaican Independence Day and includes a star-studded lineup, such as the Nineteen85-produced track “TWIST & TURN” featuring Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR. Additional guest appearances include French Montana, Preme, Masicka, Stylo G, Dane Ray, Frahcess One, Tommy Lee, and Jada Kingdom. FIXTAPE continues Popcaan’s historic narrative as one of the most prominent global superstars in the reggae space today. It is also the follow-up to his Vanquish mixtape, which released back in December of 2019 after it was announced that he had signed to OVO Sound.

Jamaica’s Popcaan is an international superstar who has become synonymous with dancehall for the better part of a decade. Having made an impact initially via his association with Vybz Kartel, he went on to become a global sensation and was culturally relevant in the United States by the time he released his debut album, the critically-lauded Where We Come From, which debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart in 2014. Parlophone Records is proud to announce release details for a previously unreleased David Bowie live album DAVID BOWIE SOMETHING IN THE AIR (LIVE PARIS 99), available to stream from 14th August, and DRIVE-IN SATURDAY (LIVE AT THE ELYSÉE MONTMARTRE, PARIS, 14TH OCTOBER, 1999), available to stream or download audio and video now.

SOMETHING IN THE AIR (LIVE PARIS 99) is a 15-track live album, featuring 12 previously unreleased recordings and three tracks used as B-sides for singles from the ‘hours…’ album. The day of the show was a momentous one for Bowie, as that afternoon he was awarded the Commandeurs of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, the highest artistic honour that France can bestow.

The Elysee Montmartre performance was one of only seven full shows performed during the promotion of the ‘hours…’ album. For this special limited run of gigs Bowie dug deep into his back catalogue making these shows particularly memorable. Standout tracks include ‘Can’t Help Thinking About Me’ first released in 1966 and not performed live in over 30 years, ‘Word On A Wing’ from Station To Station was reinstated into the set after an absence of 23 years, ‘Drive-In Saturday’ had not been performed since 1974, and ‘hours…’ track ‘Something In The Air’ made it’s live debut at this performance.

SOMETHING IN THE AIR (LIVE PARIS 99) was recorded live at the Elysée Monmartre, mixed by Mark Plati, and features Bowie’s backed by Page Hamilton – guitar, Gail Ann Dorsey – bass, vocals, Mark Plati – guitar, Sterling Campbell – drums, Mike Garson – piano, keyboards, synthesisers and Emm Gryner and Holly Palmer –backing vocals.

Presented by March For Our Lives & Sankofa.org, INTO ACTION is a celebration of community power and cultural resistance that spans August 2020 and brings together hundreds of our nation’s most prolific and talented visual artists, young activists, musicians, poets, policymakers and community leaders. Even as our cities literally smolder and our leadership fails us, we will come together to lift our voices, assert our rights, reclaim our power, and manifest a vision for our future where everyone can live with dignity, freedom, and hope.

Four days of programming streams including panel discussions, live performances, and dynamic community-building activities await. Together we will lift our voices, have brave conversations, face the pain and beauty of the last few years while planning and organizing for the upcoming election.

• TAKE BLACK THE VOTE (August 6, 2020)

August 6th marks the 55th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act. We will kick off the INTO ACTION with a broadcast from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Miami, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Washington DC and other locations focused building black political power, mobilizing the vote and honoring the legacy and the ongoing work to address issues of voter suppression and the ongoing battle for voting rights, particularly for the BIPOC community.

In the legacy of the great cultural movement that drove the Voting Rights Act, we will celebrate this day with high profile speakers, thought-provoking panel discussions, intimate interviews, musical performances, spoken word and visual art – mixing the wisdom of our elder organizers with the next generation of leaders taking the reins to fight for justice.

We will explore the beautiful struggle of political, organizing, and emotional work that women leaders carry, look back at how much we have achieved, and recommit to changing all that still must evolve.

Selena Gomez’s Cooking Show “Selena + Chef” To Stream on HBO Max Beginning August 13

HBO Max announced today that the Selena Gomez cooking show, SELENA + CHEF will premiere on the streamer Thursday, August 13.

The series is executive produced by Gomez for July Moon Productions, along with executive producers Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, and Leah Hariton on behalf of Industrial Media’s The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC). The unscripted 10-episode cooking series features the multi-platinum selling recording artist, actress, producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist as she navigates unfamiliar territory: making delicious meals while stuck at home in quarantine.

The world-renowned chefs featured during the season includes Angelo Sosa, Antonia Lofaso, Candice Kumai, Daniel Holzman, Jon & Vinny, Ludo Lefebvre, Nancy Silverton, Nyesha Arrington, Roy Choi, and Tonya Holland.

“Having some of the best chefs open up their kitchens to me was a humbling and fun experience. I definitely discovered I have a lot more to learn. I’m also really happy that we were able to highlight and raise money for some incredible charitable organizations,” said Gomez.

“Watching Selena with these incredible chefs has been a delicious joy,” said Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max. “You don’t need to be an experienced chef yourself to enjoy the show; you learn with her and get to see all the fun that happens in the kitchen. Since social distancing at home, Selena has been spending more time in the kitchen than she ever imagined. But despite her many talents, it remains to be seen if cooking is one of them. In each episode of this unapologetically authentic cookalong, Selena, with the support of her Quaranteam, will be joined remotely by a different master chef. Together, they’ll tackle cuisines of every variety, share invaluable tips and tricks, and deal with everything from smoking ovens to missing ingredients. Each episode will highlight a food-related charity, and this casual, funny, and informative series will embrace both the struggle and the joy of learning to cook – while inviting audiences to follow along at home.

This project marks the second collaboration between IPC’s Holzman and Saidman and Gomez following the last year’s groundbreaking, six-part docuseries “Living Undocumented,” which the three executive produced and Saidman also co-directed. Holzman and Saidman also lead IPC’s parent company, Industrial Media, an independent production group with ownership interest in IPC, Sharp Entertainment, 19 Entertainment, and B17 Entertainment which is currently producing Craftopia hosted by YouTube star LaurDIY for HBO Max.

Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, the most awarded American whiskey brand of 2019 and 2020 to-date, announces today the release of a new commercial utilizing the music of legendary Motown writer and producer, Frank Wilson. The song, “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do),” was written and performed by Wilson, and set a record in 2009 as the most expensive Motown vinyl ever sold when a Leicestershire, UK-based record dealer organized the sale to an anonymous buyer for £25,742. The album, which remains the tenth most expensive vinyl record ever sold, was never released in the U.S. The song is being introduced to the American public for the first time in Uncle Nearest’s newest commercial titled “Do I Love You.” Uncle Nearest CEO and founder Fawn Weaver is the daughter of Wilson.

Only 250 demo copies of the 7″ vinyl record were ever pressed. As few as two are reported to have survived with the rest being intentionally destroyed when Wilson made the decision to be a Motown producer rather than a singer. It is believed that one of those two vinyls are in the private collection of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, while the other landed at a famous English Northern soul nightclub in Wigan, England, where the song became a cult classic in the ’60s and ’70s. Due to its enormous popularity, the album was officially released in the UK in 1979. It is arguably the most popular Northern Soul record of all time and remained No. 1 on the Northern Soul charts as late as 2015.

Weaver and the Uncle Nearest brand are becoming synonymous with uncovering lesser-known stories in American history. In 2017, Weaver introduced the world to Nearest Green through the launch of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey. A story once lost to time, Weaver’s extensive research revealed that Green, a formerly enslaved man, was the first known African-American master distiller. Today, his name and legacy lives on through the whiskey and the Nearest Green Distillery located in Shelbyville, Tenn.

“I remember where I was the moment I learned my father had recorded an album with his own voice,” said Weaver. “My father did a brilliant job of cementing his own legacy when he was alive. Now, I have the honor of combining that with my own mission of cementing the legacy of Nearest Green, a man who didn’t have the chance to do that while he was living. I have no doubt my father is in heaven with a smile, and hopefully seated right next to him is another legend, Nearest.”

This is the second commercial from the super-premium whiskey brand. Uncle Nearest’s first-ever commercial, “The Why,” debuted last year as an introduction to the godfather of Tennessee Whiskey, and featured Emmy award-winning actor, Jeffrey Wright.

“The opportunity to share the story of yet another legacy was too good to pass up,” said David Poag, the director of both commercials. “And the song itself is just so good. It makes you want to jump and dance, it makes you happy. That’s an emotion we are proud to be broadcasting right now.”

“Do I Love You” began airing today in all 50 states, with the first commercial running in Detroit, Mich., the original home of Motown Records.

The Prince Estate, In Partnership With Warner Records, Releases Previously Unheard Track “Cosmic Day”

The Prince Estate in partnership with Warner Records, releases “Cosmic Day,” a previously unheard recording from Prince’s legendary vault that will be featured on the expanded reissue of Prince’s iconic Sign O’ The Times out September 25.

“Cosmic Day” was recorded at Sunset Sound, Studio 3 on November 15, 1986, by engineers Susan Rogers and Coke Johnson. It is possibly the most revered recording in the Super Deluxe collection. While the song had floated among ardent collectors as a small snippet, the full version reveals Prince at his most psychedelic. From the race car ignition sounding intro to the screaming guitar finale, Prince sings about Mermen in the sky and flying in the deep sea.

Inhabiting his “Camille” vocal throughout, Prince blends synth and real drums, guitars and several keyboard parts which add to the ethereal surrealism of the song.

Although “Cosmic Day” didn’t appear on any of the original configurations for Crystal Ball or Sign O’ The Times, elements from the song were later used by Prince in 1988 during the Lovesexy tour intermission.

The new Sign O’ The Times expanded reissue will be available this fall via all physical, digital and streaming partners, with the classic album remastered for the very first time. The Super Deluxe edition features 63 previously unreleased tracks, as well as a previously unreleased 2+ hour video concert performance from the vault. In June 1970 Elvis Presley entered Nashville’s legendary RCA Studio B for a marathon five day recording session that would provide the backbone of three of his most successful studio albums of the decade.

Drawing on the original masters, the 4CD set presents studio tracks from the 1970 marathon sessions in pristine audio, newly mixed by acclaimed engineer Matt Ross-Spring (John Prine, Jason Isbell) without the added overdubs or orchestration appearing on earlier releases.

Can a Lab Drug Test Detect Fake Urine or Animal Urine?

Fake urine simply means artificial urine or animal urine. Synthetic urine normally contains urea, chloride, sodium, potassium, creatinine, and other dissolved ions, as stated in this Quick Fix Plus review All of these components have their range value in human urine. The components may be the same but the value of those mentioned components is not the same. This is why labs can detect fake urine and normal human urine. Over 95 percent of the urine is water which is not the case in many fake urines.

Components of a Urine

Uric acid is the main component in urine as labs test fake urine, they start by checking uric acid. Some labs are not extreme when it comes to analyzing fake urine. That is why once they detect uric acid, they just conclude it is human urine. The trick is, fake urine contains uric acid but it may not contain other components of urine such as creatinine, Amino acids, metabolites of hormones, and Urea. If the urine of a person doesn’t contain that, further investigations are necessary to detect whether or not it is human urine.

The Temperature is Enough to Tell the Difference

When the lab requests for urine, the temperature of fresh urine is the same as the temperature of a normal person. Once the temperature is not the same as the person differs with great value, something should tell you that the urine might be fake. Even the odor of the urine is not the same because fake urine is not concentrated with a lot of components. The components of human urine make it smell differently from the synthetic urine. This simply means a perfect lab that devotes to detect fake urine can detect it without even doing some of the complicated tests. Fake urine degrades quicker than human urine.

Some of the Tests That Detect Fake Urine

Creatinine is a must in human urine because it is the one used to check for the functionality of the kidneys. If the kidneys are not okay, the creatinine levels will always be below the normal range. Fake urine may not be having this chemical especially if it was manufactured by incompetent labs. The lab can also check for urobilinogen which is a mixture of urea and by-products of bilirubin. Another thing the labs can test is the specific gravity of the urine. This will differ because the components of fake urine are not in the same value as the components of human urine.

Animal Urine is Not Same as Human Urine

Biologically, human urine contains the exact components of animal urine. Take for example a pig or cow, these are animals that produce a significant amount of urine. The difference comes in the value of those components. They differ greatly because the biological and physiological requirements of the animal’s body are different from the human body. If a lab is extensive enough in its investigations, it can detect all these faults and differences.

Bottom Line

Labs can detect fake urine if they decide to. The urinalysis is not enough to detect whether urine is fake or not. Some advanced tests are necessary to reveal whether or not urine is fake or original from a human being. Components of human urine are the same as components in animal urine but their value differs greatly. This is why it is easy for one detects animal urine and differentiate it from the urine of a human being. Synthetic urine that is made using the original urine may be hard to differentiate. Only the concentration can differ because human urine is often more concentrated.
