What happened over two nights in a tiny, unassuming Chicago club under a bakery was a fascinating and unplanned documentation of a pivotal moment in the evolution of Miles Davis’s leadership and sound. Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, today announce the reissue of these legendary recordings: THE COMPLETE LIVE AT THE PLUGGED NICKEL 1965. Arriving January 30, 2026, as a cornerstone moment in the year-long celebration of Miles Davis’ Centennial to come next year, this comprehensive collection will be available as a 10LP or 8CD box set. Pre-orders begin today.

As a preview of the larger collection, a standalone 2LP set, Live At The Plugged Nickel: December 23, 1965 – Second Set, will be released for RSD Black Friday on November 28.

The recordings capture Miles Davis’s Second Great Quintet—featuring Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams—at an inflection point. Wayne Shorter was just over a year into his tenure, and the group, fresh off of recording E.S.P., was solidifying into what would become the most transformative small group in jazz. What unfolded on the stage of the Chicago club was not just a performance, but a provocation. Sparked by a pact instigated by drummer Tony Williams to play “anti-music,” the band actively subverted expectations, turning their well-tread setlist inside out. As Miles would later put it, “We found ways to make the old music sound as new as the new music we were recording.” It is the sound of the Second Great Quintet becoming itself—alive, unstable, and always mid-mutation.

Originally released in 1995 as a Mosaic Records limited-edition LP box set, The Complete Live at the Plugged Nickel has been out of print for nearly three decades. The new 10LP edition recreates the Mosaic musical presentation and offers the complete performances—over seven hours of music—in a newly designed slipcase featuring ten individual jackets and a 40-page booklet. An 8CD edition will also be available. Both formats feature new liner notes by Syd Schwartz, who unpacks the radical spirit of the performances, as well as classic material by jazz historian Bob Blumenthal.

“The Plugged Nickel tapes don’t just capture great performances. They document a band revolutionizing improvisation in real time, welcoming surprise, discarding certainty, and turning ‘wrong’ notes into revelations,” remarks Schwartz in the new liner notes. “What unfolded on that stage has become one of the most mythologized stretches in post-bop history.”

The release has only grown in stature since its initial issue. The Guardian hailed it as “Maybe the best-ever representation of ‘the second great quintet’ at work…reinventing small-band jazz with an all-but-psychic flexibility of timing and on-the-fly harmonising.”

Sixty years later, The Complete Live at the Plugged Nickel 1965 returns, humming like a live wire and daring a new generation of listeners to rethink what’s possible.

Creeper Unleash New Album ‘Sanguivore II: Mistress of Death,’ Out Halloween

CREEPER’Sanguivore proved to be their most career-defining album to date, propelling them to their biggest headline show at the OVO Wembley Arena.

Their new album SANGUIVORE II: MISTRESS OF DEATHwhich will be released on Halloween (October 31) goes deeper into that narrative. After enamoring devotees and newcomers alike with the double shot of tracks “Headstones“and “Blood Magick (It’s A Ritual),” CREEPER continue to cast a spell of anticipation with the new single “Prey For The Night.”

Throwback darkwave synth stabs flail into the darkness as“Prey For The Night” gets underway, with William von Ghould‘s sinister baritone setting the scene. From there, it becomes a characteristically lavish and larger-than-life sound, blending classic ’80s hard rock riffage, a searing Steinman-esque chorus, theatrical vocal interplay with keyboardist Hannah Greenwood, and a blast of saxophone. Even the title is possessed by a devilishly dark double meaning.

CREEPER’s ambition is to always go bigger, grander and more unpredictable than before — and that’s what they’ve achieved with SANGUIVORE II: MISTRESS OF DEATH. The story follows a British rock band immersed in the decadence of an American tour at the height of the Satanic Panic of the ’80s. Yet each stop leaves fresh decay in the shape of a mysterious trail of deceased fans. The world is quick to lay blame at the bloodied hands of the band, but there’s more to this story than is first apparent… enter the ruthless hunter, Mistress Of Death, who is on their trail with all axe and no mercy. 

The album is bookended with narratives from, good friend of the band, Patricia Morrison (Sisters Of Mercy and The Damned). and the strings come courtesy of the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

CREEPER have raided the abyss to present a range of collectible curiosities for SANGUIVORE II: MISTRESS OF DEATH, which are available HERE.

Physical formats include blood red and full moon white vinyl formats, both of which will soon sell-out their limited edition runs — a SANGUIVORE double-bill cassette housed in an old school VHS case has already sold-out. New merch designs are just as imaginative, led by a “Mistress of Death” embroidered bomber jacket and a “SANGUIVORE 666” ice hockey shirt.

This year has already seen CREEPER complete sold-out UK headline shows as well as storm festivals from Rock Am Ring/Rock Am Park and Graspop through to Bloodstock and Tomorrow’s Ghosts. Next up is a run of shows as special guests to Ice Nine Kills.

Taylor Swift Talks ‘The Life of a Showgirl,’ Travis Kelce, and Reinventing Creativity on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up

Taylor Swift joined SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up this week to discuss her recently released album The Life of a Showgirl. The global pop star spoke with SiriusXM hosts Nicole Ryan, Ryan Sampson, and Stanley T about her new album, fiancé Travis Kelce, finding love at the same time as Selena Gomez, answered a question from Ed Sheeran, and more.

Swift recorded the album in 2024 in Sweden with producers Max Martin and Shellback while she was on the European leg of The Eras Tour.

“I think it was just a different type of muscle I was exercising, you know what I mean? At that point in the tour, I was on the European leg of it, which had a lot more shows than I had done on the American leg of it. So it was like more shows, fewer days off. So the physical exhaustion and soreness were at an all-time high at the same time as I was starting to get to do that show with muscle memory,” she says of the project. “And it took a while for that to happen. Like, ’cause it was a, I mean, it’s a three and a half hour show, but I was starting to be able to be like, okay, wait, my body’s getting more tired. My mind is more able to do this on autopilot, and I never wanna do this show on autopilot. So, I need to do something to flex these creative muscles and go in there and like really exercise that other part of my brain. And what it ended up doing was like reinvigorating every single aspect of my life, including the tour. Which made me just able to like, recommit myself to the show even more. If that makes any sense.”

Her song “Wood” is making headlines for its shocking lyrical content. She said her mom may be oblivious that the song is about her fiancé’s manhood.

“I think that she thinks that that song is about superstitions, popular superstitions, which, which it absolutely is,” she shares. “That’s the joy of the double entendre. That song, you could read that song for people, and it just goes right over their heads. That song, you see in that song what you wanna see in that song.”

Over the weekend, Swift released four limited edition CDs with two acoustic bonus tracks each. They were available for 24 hours only. Those add to an onslaught of variants offered through her online store and Target.

The Life of a Showgirl broke multiple major records, setting new milestones in both sales and streaming upon its release last week. The album sold 1.2 million vinyl copies in its debut week in the US, surpassing the previous record holder, which was her own album, The Tortured Poets Department at 859,000 copies. It sold 2.7 million copies (physical and digital) in the U.S. on its first day of release, a feat that surpassed the entire first-week sales of her previous album, The Tortured Poets Department, with 2.61 million equivalent album units.

The 2.7 million first-day sales made it the second-largest sales week for any album since Luminate began tracking data in 1991, trailing only Adele’s 25, which sold 3.378 million in its first week. The first-day sales volume instantly made it the best-selling album of the year.

Before its release, the album broke the record for the most pre-saves on Spotify, surpassing six million pre-saves and breaking the previous record held by The Tortured Poets Department. The album became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day for the year, reaching the milestone in under 11 hours. The lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” broke the record for the most-streamed song in a single day on Spotify, accumulating over 30 million streams.

The album became the most-streamed album of all time in its first day on Amazon Music. It also captured the year’s highest first-day album streams worldwide on Apple Music.

The limited theatrical release of the film, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, grossed an estimated $33 million in North America, becoming the highest-grossing album debut event in cinema history.

Ozzy Osbourne’s Final Memoir ‘Last Rites’ Has Arrived, Completed Just Days Before His Passing

JACK OSBOURNE TALKS ABOUT LAST RITES

Q: How did the idea for doing LAST RITES come about?

JACK OSBOURNE (JACK): My father had been working on Last Rites for a very long time—chipping away at it over the last three or four years. He always felt he needed to do a follow-up to I Am Ozzy, because so much had happened in the 20 years since that book was released. From life after the TV show, to the Sabbath reunion, to releasing his last two albums, and finally his health issues. It was important to him to capture all of that.

Q: Do you or other family members have favorites passages/anecdotes from the book?

JACK: If I’m being honest, not many of the family members have read the book yet—it’s been difficult time for everyone. For me, the last chapter is what I’ve reflected on the most. He finished it just a few days before he passed.

Q: Throughout LAST RITES Ozzy reflects on his early life with the insight gained as we grow older. Were there things that changed about him and the way he experienced the world towards the end of his life?

JACK: There’s a lot to reflect on with that question. My father was always considered the “wild man of rock,” the “Prince of Darkness,” and so on, but the last seven years were the complete opposite. Because of his injuries and declining health, he slowed down. And sometimes with a curse comes a blessing. Slowing down gave him the space to really reflect on his journey—his successes, his failures, his joys, his sadness and ultimately, what mattered most to him. This book captures some of that.

Q: Do you recall any moments or conversations with Ozzy as he was working on the book—funny, touching, surprising—about the material he wanted to include or stories about working with a writer on the project?

JACK: He was very private about the process and didn’t share much about what he was including. I’d try to ask, but he’d often brush it off. I’ve often said this about my father, he was the most humble egomaniac you could ever meet. He honestly didn’t think anyone would care about what he was writing in LAST RITES. So when I asked him, he always downplayed it.

Q: It’s so clear from reading LAST RITES that Ozzy loved his fans. Is there anything that didn’t make it into the book that you’d like for them to know?

JACK: Here’s the truth—my father fought a very hard fight to get on that stage in Birmingham on July 5. He was determined to say goodbye to his fans, and that’s exactly what he did. He loved them deeply because they gave him the life he had. He always said he would have been nothing without their love and support. That last show was his way of giving back one final time.

Q: What do you think Ozzy would like readers to take away from the book?

JACK: My father would want people to smile, laugh, and feel love when they read it. He absolutely hated when people felt sorry for him. I know some fans will get emotional—it’s hard not to—but he couldn’t stand when people cried in front of him or got sad around him. So enjoy his words. Feel his energy. Remember who he will always be. And never stop loving him.

Bruce Springsteen and Jeremy Allen White sat down for a special “Deliver Me From Nowhere” town hall on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio hosted by Jim Rotolo.

During the interview, Bruce Springsteen revealed how he knew Jeremy Allen White was the right actor to step into his shoes and shared his reaction to how “Nebraska” performed on the charts. Jeremy Allen White also revealed which Bruce Springsteen song was hardest to record.

Jim Rotolo: Bruce, did you believe going into this that someone could portray your emotional and creative state at the time of “Nebraska” or is it such a personal and authentic album?

Bruce Springsteen: Well, I’d seen “The Bear,” so I knew the perimeters of Jeremy’s talents, you know, and I related to that character on “The Bear” very deeply myself, and I knew that this is the guy that could play the complexities of my own emotional state at that point in my life, you know, and that was the most important thing to me, that, I mean, I could see how, just from watching “The Bear,” how Jeremy worked in interior, you know.

Jim Rotolo: Which was more challenging, singing the more rocking songs or the acoustic slowed down stuff.

Jeremy Allen White: I mean, none of it was easy, but I’ll remember recording “Born in the USA for the rest of my life.” That song put me on my. I lost my voice. I needed a nap and I saw Bruce shortly after that recording. It was about a week before we started shooting the film and Bruce had a documentary film, “Road Diary” that was out on Hulu, and so they had an event that was, you know, nearby and I saw Bruce after that, and I didn’t have any voice and he said, “What’d you do today?” and I said, “I recorded Born in the USA,” and he said, “Yeah, that sounds about right,” and yeah. It was a funny thing. You know, we had about a week until we started shooting, and I lost my voice entirely. I just stopped speaking for a couple days, and then my voice started to come back and I loved the sound of it. I had this real rasp and I was like, “Oh, man, how can I capture this or recapture this?” And so there was a period in that first week, I don’t know if I ever told you this, Bruce, where I was waking up in the morning and I was screaming into a pillow to try and recapture like a little bit of that rasp, but I think my neighbors were getting nervous and I knew that I couldn’t go on that way. Maybe, you know, I wouldn’t be able to continue, so it was only about a week that I did that, but “Born in the USA.” I mean, I don’t know how Bruce, you perform that song.

Bruce Springsteen: That’s still a hard song for me to sing. That’s the hardest song of the night for me to sing.

The new year will see Cain make stops across Australia and New Zealand through February, then head to Coachella just before the 2026 North America run. Ethel Cain is the creation of Florida-born multidisciplinary artist Hayden Anhedönia. After years spent teaching herself to produce at home in the Florida panhandle and releasing various projects, Cain moved to Indiana and single-handedly wrote, produced, recorded, and mixed her acclaimed 2021 EP Inbred from the basement of the old church where she lived.

Since then, she has released three bodies of work. Her 2022 debut album Preacher’s Daughter, a multimedia work that took more than four years to assemble, was released in May 2022 to widespread praise, with many critics naming the album one of the best of the year.
