THE SHEEPDOGS announce New Album “FUTURE NOSTALGIA” Released October 2 and Canadian Tour Dates

0

THE SHEEPDOGS have announced the release of the highly anticipated follow-up to their 2012 award-winning self-titled LP. FUTURE NOTALGIA arrives everywhere on October 2, 2015 via Warner Music and is available for pre-order at iTunes and Google play as of today with special fan bundles available as of July 10. The first single from the LP titled “Downtown” debuted nationally at radio this week and is available to stream at Spotify and RDIO.

Produced by lead vocalist and songwriter Ewan Currie alongside engineer Matt Ross-Spang (former engineer at Memphis’ Sun Studios) the 18 freshly-minted tracks on Future Nostalgia were recorded in the quiet and idyllic setting of Stony Lake, Ontario, a conscientious choice by the band to ensure they kept all distractions at bay and the recording process as natural as possible. The band, comprised of Currie, Ryan Gullen (bass/vox), Sam Corbett (drums/vox), Shamus Currie (keys/horns) and Rusty Matyas (guitar/vox), set up camp up for several weeks in a rented house in the remote country where they trucked in equipment to build a studio in order to record their latest effort.  Says Currie “We worked from morning ‘til night, but we kept it loose, had a real good time, and came away with a rock n’ roll record”.

The latest record has many flavours showcasing the band’s creative license when left to their own devices ranging from the catchy, signature-sounding single “Downtown” to the introspective, and soulful groove of “Bad Lieutenant” to “Help Us All”, a fresh take on a vintage vibe featuring a trombone solo from Ewan’s brother Shamus. Another highlight is the laid back, good-time, backyard jam “Same Old Feeling”, as well as the closing 6 tracks which flow one into the other to create a cohesive medley, much like the band did on their 2010 LP Learn and Burn.

Formed in from Saskatoon in 2006, The Sheepdogs have received widespread acclaim for their bold and beautiful take on classic guitar rock, evinced on three self-funded, independently released albums.  The band’s hard work, determination and impressive chops have earned them a fervent fan following, leading to the accumulation of various achievements and awards including four JUNO awards, seven JUNO nominations, Gold certification for The Sheepdogs and Platinum certification for Learn and Burn. The band’s 2012 self-titled LP debuted at #1 on the Top 200 SoundScan Chart, and garnered three #1 singles at Rock Radio including Gold certified tracks “Feeling Good” and “The Way It Is”. As impassioned on stage as they are on record, The Sheepdogs have spent much of their musical lifetime on the road playing innumerable headline shows and festival appearances worldwide.

The Sheepdogs will perform and throw out the first pitch as part of Blue Jays Summer Fan Fridays on August 28.  For more information, visit: http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/tor/ticketing/summer_friday_fan_festivals.jsp

I Am Evel Knievel Trailer Is Out…And I’m Jumping Over The Buses In Excitement

0

Evel. Not a name that you forget. Not a man that you forget. Hell, he wasn’t a man, he was a daredevil. Evel Knievel was the original daredevil. He left behind a twisted wreck of a life and a story that can only be told at full speed, straight up, and with no flowery prose. We will look back, and we will look inside. With a cast that includes those who were there, those who wanted to be Evel, and those who became who they are today because of one man who paved the way for those that risk it all. Interviews include Matthew McConaughey, Michelle Rodriguez, Kid Rock, Guy Fieri, Robbie Maddison and a host of family, friends and collaborators.

How To Sound Like The Beatles In This Abbey Road Reverb Trick

0

Abbey Road Studios in London has long had what many think is the best sounding reverb in the business, adding its lush sound to many hits dating back to the 1950s.

Trick #23 of Bobby Owsinski’s 101 Mixing Tricks coaching program shows how to get this same sound using only the native plugins on your DAW.

This trick comes from Module 2 of the program, which features 18 tricks that the A-list mixers use to make their delay, reverb and modulation effects take their mixes to the next level.

Kerouac, Ginsberg, Bukowski And More In This 18-Hour Playlist Of Readings By Beat Poets

0

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness,
starving hysterical naked, looking for 18-hours of nothing but beat poets.

who passed through sites with radiant cool eyes
hallucinating Tidal and Apple Music-light tragedy among the
streamers of music

bickering
with the echoes of the soul, rocking and rolling in the
midnight solitude-bench dolmen-realms of love, dream of life and trial services for 3 months, all
you can stream, with ads here and there.

(Apologies to Allen Gisnberg)

Beat poetry evolved during the 1940s in both New York City and on the west coast, although San Francisco became the heart of the movement in the early 1950s. The end of World War II left poets like Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Gregory Corso questioning mainstream politics and culture.

Do you have 18 hours?

These 249 tracks include the aforementioned Ginsberg and Corso, and also William S. Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, Gregory Peter Orlovsky and Charles Bukowski.
