Glee Still Leads Most Billboard Hot 100 Hits By Artist
In just six years on the air (2009-15), Fox’s Glee rewrote Hot 100 history, as the show’s cast sports the most entries on the chart of any act all-time: a whopping 207. In 2009, the Glee cast had twenty-five singles chart on the Billboard Hot 100, the most by any artist since The Beatles had thirty-one songs in the chart in 1964; in 2010, it placed eighty singles on the Billboard Hot 100, far outstripping the previous record. How did they do? By releasing multiple singles alongside each new episode, and their strong weekly sales at the height of the show’s popularity allowed the act to quickly surpass Presley’s long-standing mark (108). Lil Wayne has also overtaken the King, running up 127 Hot 100 hits, although approximately two-thirds of his trips to the chart have been in featured roles.
Down the list, but deserves a mention is Akon, who often provides vocals as a featured artist and is currently credited with over 300 guest appearances and more than 35 Billboard Hot 100 songs.

Listen To Previously-Unreleased Carly Simon āI Canāt Thank You Enoughā
Just days before Carly Simonās long-awaited memoir, Boys in the Trees, arrives, Rhino will release the bookās musical companion, SONGS FROM THE TREES (A MUSICAL MEMOIR COLLECTION).
In the collectionās liner notes, the acclaimed singer/songwriter explains the musicās connection to her book: āThis is a special album that serves as an additional way to look at my stories. Most of these songs are precursors to what eventually became the book…If you feel like playing this puzzle, there are clues of how to cross-reference the songs with the chapters, pages and words.ā
SONGS FROM THE TREES (A MUSICAL MEMOIR COLLECTION) will be available from Rhino on November 20,
With 31 tracks spread across two disc, the compilation spans a great deal of the award-winning artistās stellar career, from her musical debut as half of The Simon Sisters performing folk songs with her sister Lucy in Greenwich Village, to her meteoric solo career, which yielded 13 top 40 hits, including the #1 song āYouāre So Vain.ā
Longtime fans will appreciate the inclusion of two unreleased tracks: āShowdownā originally recorded during the sessions for her 1978 album Boys In The Trees and āI Canāt Thank You Enough,ā a brand new song written with her son Ben Taylor. The song will be available to hear starting at Midnight, November 12.
The compilation focuses primarily on the music Simon released during her longstanding relationship with Warner Music labels Elektra Records and Warner Bros. Records from 1971 to 1983. Among the many highlights are: āThatās The Way Iāve Always Heard It Should Be,ā from her self-titled, 1971 debut, āThe Right Thing To Do,ā from her first #1 album No Secrets (1972), āMockingbird,ā the gold-certified single she recorded with her then-husband and fellow singer-songwriter James Taylor, āFrom The Heartā from 1981ās Torch, as well as the title tracks from 1980ās Come Upstairs and 1983ās Hello Big Man.
Simonās memoir Boys in the Trees reveals her remarkable life, beginning with her storied childhood as the third daughter of Richard L. Simon, the co-founder of publishing giant Simon & Schuster, to a meteoric career in which she became the first artist in history to win a Grammy Award, an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. The memoir recalls a childhood enriched by music and culture, but also one shrouded in secrets that would eventually tear her family apart.Ā Simon brilliantly captures moments of creative inspiration, the sparks of songs, and the stories behind writing āAnticipationā and āWe Have No Secretsā among many others.Ā Romantic entanglements with some of the most famous men of the day fueled her confessional lyrics, as well as the unraveling of her storybook marriage to Taylor. Boys in the Trees is available November 24 from Flatiron Books, a division of Macmillian.
