Laraw Unveils Nostalgic Summer Single ‘Milk and Sugar’

0

Breakout alt-pop artist Laraw returns with a shimmering new single, Milk and Sugar, now available (via Bravo) on all major streaming and download platforms. Following the release of her French-language EP J’ai quitté le Heartbreak Club, Laraw shifts back to English for this warm, nostalgic track – just in time for summer.

Milk and Sugar is a tender, hook-filled ode to rediscovered love – one that captures the sweetness of shared memories and the thrill of falling all over again. With her signature emotional honesty, the Montreal-born singer of Moroccan and Lebanese heritage blends vulnerability with breezy alt-pop sensibility:

I know it’s been so long
Since I cared for
Somebody else but myself
Oh, I’m sure
You must’ve felt it
When you asked me for a cigarette

Oh, uh—here we go again
Oh no—is it in my head?

Laraw co-wrote the song with Jeremy Lachance and long-time collaborator Tim Buron. Buron also handled the mix, while mastering was completed by Gabriel Meunier. The result is an intimate, immersive single that continues to build Laraw’s reputation as one of Canada’s most compelling new voices.

Laraw’s momentum has only grown since the release of her 2024 debut album Quarter Life Crisis. Her single Standby Baby was featured on SiriusXM The Verge and Stingray Canadian Indie, while Beaux yeux climbed to No. 1 on CISM and held a spot in Stingray’s Top 5 for several weeks. The album also broke into Earshot’s National Top 30.

A young woman lies on a blanket, looking up at the camera with a relaxed expression. She wears a pink floral tank top and blue jeans. Surrounding her are other people partially visible, enjoying a casual outdoor gathering.

She has shared the stage with artists like Pomme and Jonathan Roy, and performed at leading festivals including Santa Teresa, Festival d’été de Québec, POP Montréal, and M for Montréal.

This summer, Laraw will hit the road for a Canadian tour, with confirmed stops at:

NXNE (Toronto) – June 13

Sled Island (Calgary) – June 18–19

Francos de Montréal – June 21

International Hot-Air Balloon Festival (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu) – August 10

With Milk and Sugar, Laraw continues to cement her place in the indie-pop landscape – just in time to soundtrack your summer.

Olivia Lunny Releases Emotionally-Charged Album ‘Velvet & Denim’

0

Canadian indie pop artist Olivia Lunny releases her bold, emotionally-charged album, VELVET & DENIM via Infinity & Recordings. Listen HERE. The album is accompanied by the visualizer for the ethereal “VELVET & DENIM,” originally written 8 years ago, the song became the title track for the album, setting the tone of duality that spans the 12-song record.

Of the album, Olivia states, “VELVET & DENIM is about the dance between elegance and edge. The quiet moments and the chaos, the beauty in contrast. It’s a love letter to the in-between, to late-night drives through Los Angeles, to heartbreak and healing, and becoming. These songs tell stories that are delicate, gritty and extremely honest. The soundtrack to loving, loss, and dreams being chased.”

Olivia’s VELVET & DENIM is an album that captures the tension between softness and strength. With storytelling that is both delicate and persistent, Olivia leans into the dualities that define us. Each song offers an honest glimpse into her world, inviting listeners to feel deeply, move freely, and embrace every version of themselves along the way.

The album features previously released tracks, including the anthem of confidence “MARILYN,” determined love song “HEAVEN” and ode to Los Angeles industry life, “CITY OF ANGELS.”

This Sunday, June 8, Olivia will make her Governors Ball live debut in NYC, then head to Europe to perform a select few festivals overseas including Lido Festival, Pinkpop Festival and Isle of Wright Festival. Additionally, she will provide support for Justin Timberlake at shows in Belfast and Dublin as well as BANKS for the Fall 2025 European leg of the “Off with Her Head Tour.”

After winning Canada’s music competition show The Launch in 2020, Olivia has since amassed over 80 million global streams, 2 top 40 US radio singles and a top 20 single at Canadian Pop Radio. Stacking over 5 million streams for her Heartbreak on Repeat EP and press support from the likes of Grammy.comPAPERBillboardEarmilkWonderlandNotion, and many more, there’s so much more to come from the pop starlet.

Rita Ora Unleashes Summer Anthem ‘Heat’ on World Pride Stage

0

Rita Ora turns up the temperature with the release of her hotly anticipated new single “Heat” – arriving on the same day as her performance at the World Pride Music Festival in Washington, D.C.

Produced by Peter Thomas (P!nk, Selena Gomez, Teddy Swims), who co-wrote the song alongside Leland, Michael Matosic, and Troye Sivan, “Heat” is bold, playful, and filled with sun-soaked energy.

Rita says: “Dropping “Heat” on the same day as my World Pride performance feels like the perfect way to kick off summer — it’s such a special moment for me and for my fans who have supported me over the years. I’m obsessed with this track, and honestly, I just wanted to have fun with it!  It’s bold, cheeky, and totally drenched in golden, feel-good energy. For me, it’s all about celebrating freedom, joy, being unapologetically yourself and owning who you are!”

Rita first gave fans a taste of “Heat” on stage in Miami while supporting Kylie Minogue on the US leg of her Tension tour — and it’s already set to become a standout in her live set, with a sizzling appearance lined up at Capital’s Summertime Ball on 15th June in London.

The accompanying video for “Heat”, directed by Justin Daashuur Hopkins, was filmed on a vibrant, sun-drenched stretch of Miami Beach and plunges us into a surreal, high-energy day in the lives of the city’s most eclectic beachgoers. Shot in rich technicolour tones inspired by legendary photographer and photojournalist Martin Parr, the visuals celebrate the wild, sweaty, and gloriously eccentric spirit of Miami’s beach culture — a world where it’s always summer.

Rita Ora’s multi-platinum music career has won her commercial and critical acclaim with 13 UK Top 10 singles and four UK Number One singles. In the UK she was among the first to receive a BRIT Billion award after surpassing the landmark of one billion career UK streams. While in the US, her acclaimed singles and star-studded collaborations have earned her a #3 Billboard Hot 100 song, 7 Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs Chart, 5 of which reached #1, and 6 Top 20 singles on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart. Rita’s most recent studio album, You & I, (released in 2023) landed the coveted #1 spot on the UK Official Independent Albums Chart and was the highest new entry from a female act in the UK Official Albums Chart (debuting at #6).

Paradise Lost Announce 17th Album ‘Ascension’ With Tour and Single “Silence Like The Grave”

0

Icons of goth and doom, PARADISE LOST will release their long-awaited, 17th album Ascension on September 19th with Nuclear Blast Records. The band’s first album in 5 years, following 2020’s critically acclaimed Obsidian, was produced by guitarist Gregor Mackintosh and mixed/mastered by Lawrence Mackrory. Ascension is a testament to the band’s longevity and relevance over their 35+ year career, encompassing their signature styles of gothic, death and doom fans have cherished along the way.

Ascension’s album cover fittingly features the painting The Court of Death (1870-1902) by renowned British artist George Frederic Watts, which hangs in the Tate Gallery in London. The painting depicts Death as an enthroned angel flanked by allegorical figures of Silence and Mystery guarding sunrise and the star of hope, while a warrior surrenders his sword and a duke his coronet, showing that worldly status offers no protection. The painting’s bleak, prophetic vision embodies Ascension’s dark, tormented soundscapes as mournful verses collide with dire, foreboding riffs.

Commenting on the record, vocalist Nick Holmes says:

Ascension is a cavalcade of molten misery, a vigorous sorrow filled stroll through a wicked world of glorious triumph and pitiful tragedy.”

Today, PARADISE LOST offer a glimpse into their melancholic masterpiece with the record’s first single and music video, ‘Silence Like The Grave.’

More than three decades into their career, and with over two million albums sold, PARADISE LOST remain the undisputed kings of metal’s dark side. Formed in Halifax in 1988, the band quickly became noted as the pioneers of gothic metal through their early groundbreaking albums like 1991’s aptly-titled Gothic, a mixture of heaviness intertwined with shadowy melody and atmosphere.

Never a group to remain creatively static, across their career they’ve explored a myriad of avenues of dark music, from sludgy doom-death roots, to conquering the metal mainstream with the enormous, lush sounds of 1995’s Draconian Times, to more experimental, electronic leanings, leaving an influence on a trail of artists as varied as CRADLE OF FILTH, HIM, GATECREEPER and CHELSEA WOLFE.

Now, in 2025, the Yorkshire quintet return with their staggering 17th album, Ascension, a record that sees their crown continue to gleam as it underlines just how they attained their position. Produced by guitarist Gregor Mackintosh at Black Planet studios in East Yorkshire, with drums and vocals captured at NBS and Wasteland studios in Sweden, its 10 tracks traverse the multitude of sounds in the band’s arsenal, from full-bore heavy metal to sky-high melody, all the while keeping a minor-key melancholy that remains irresistible.

Opeth Unleash Performance Video for “§1” from Acclaimed Album The Last Will And Testament

0

Swedish 2025 Grammi winners OPETH are pleased to unveil a full-on band performance video for “§1.” The track is taken from their current success album The Last Will And Testament (released on November 22, 2024 through Moderbolaget / Reigning Phoenix Music), which was highly praised by press and fans alike and saw frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt return to growling vocal territory for the first time in 16 years. Their new material has additionally been warmly welcomed during their ongoing world tour, which is why the video arrives right in time as their touring cycle commences at the legendary Sweden Rock Festival today.

Åkerfeldt states: “So here’s a video (of sorts) for your ‘enjoyment.’ We had requests left, right & centre to do one of them measly ‘lyric videos’ or ‘visualizers’ for ‘content.’ Now, right there are three words I despise! I’ve made it clear in our circle of trust that we shouldn’t use the word ‘content’ even if that’s exactly what we’re working on. We’re not some goddamn influencers, now are we? So can we please settle on the old-fashioned word ‘video’ without meddling with modern online lingo? And a video is what it really is. A performance video, no less. We figured it’s a bit more happening to look at (should you decide to do so) than a lyric video. ‘§1’ is the opener on “The Last Will And Testament.” A good song. I like it! The video looks good. As good as it can look when involving 5 middle-aged, slightly hungover geezers miming along to something. We shot it in some industrial area in Birmingham (UK) on the latest Euro tour. Everyone (well, the band and crew) were quite eager to get out of there as we had dinner planned at a fancy curry house locally. Much thanks to Ash Pears and ASH TV, who were really professional (ie: quick!) and made the whole experience rather easy on us. Hope you dig it, people!”

Following OPETH’s live summer run is the second proper European leg of their The Last Will And Testament tour before the group embarks on a 9-date journey to Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Dates as follows:

OPETH’s 14th album was written by Åkerfeldt, with lyrics conferred with Klara Rönnqvist Fors (THE HEARD, ex-CRUCIFIED BARBARA). The Last Will And Testament was co-produced by Åkerfeldt and Stefan Boman (GHOST, THE HELLACOPTERS), engineered by Boman, Joe Jones (KILLING JOKE, ROBERT PLANT), and OPETH, with Boman, Åkerfeldt, and the rest of the band mixing at Atlantis and Hammerthorpe Studios in Stockholm. The strings on The Last Will And Testament were arranged by Åkerfeldt and Dave Stewart (EGG, KHAN) and conducted by Stewart at Angel Studios in London. Not one to miss a beat, visual artist Travis Smith returns to the fold, crafting his 11th cover, a haunting ‘photograph’ reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick’s infamous Overlook Hotel photograph. Miles Showell (ABBA, QUEEN) also revisits mastering and vinyl lacquer cutting at Abbey Road Studios in London.

Åkerfeldt rolls out the red carpet for storied flutist and JETHRO TULL leader Ian Anderson. Not only do Anderson’s signature notes fly on “§4” and “§7,” he narrates on “§1,” “§2,” “§4,” and “§7.” Joining Anderson, EUROPE’s Joey Tempest lends a backing vocal hand on “§2,” while Åkerfeldt’s youngest daughter, Mirjam Åkerfeldt, is the disembodied voice in “§1.”

The Last Will And Testament is gripping from start to finish, jaw-dropping inside and out, representing some of OPETH’s finest material to date. Just as OPETH welcomed many into its distressed arms over the years, the Swedes again deliver on the promise that great music always tells a compelling story – this time with growls we had not heard since the 2008 Watershed.

Alice Cooper Group Reignite Shock Rock Legacy with “Wild Ones”

0

Following the unexpected return of the original Alice Cooper Group, the band unveils their second single: “Wild Ones,” a blistering, riff-fueled homage to youthful rebellion and the raw energy that made them legends.

Inspired by the iconic 1953 film The Wild One starring Marlon Brando, the track captures the same defiant spirit that once shocked middle America and defined a generation. With snarling guitars, pounding drums, and Alice’s unmistakable snarl front and center, “Wild Ones” isn’t just a song, it’s a statement.

Reuniting five decades after their rise to fame, the band channels the chaos, danger, and cool of their early days, a time when rock was feared, eyeliner was scandalous, and every show felt like a revolution.

“Wild Ones” is the sound of the Alice Cooper Group with their engines roaring, still loud, still dangerous, and still not asking for permission.

“The Revenge of Alice Cooper” is a high-voltage journey into vintage horror and classic ’70s shock rock, capturing the sound, energy, and mischief that made the original Alice Cooper band legendary. In a truly special moment, the album features a posthumous appearance by Glen Buxton, the band’s original guitarist who passed away in 1997, through an unreleased recording that seamlessly blends the past with the present on “What Happened To You,” featuring his original guitar part.

As if that wasn’t enough – two rare bonus tracks are exclusively included in the box set and limited smart format: a long-lost 1970 version of “Return of The Spiders,” recently unearthed after 50 years and newly mixed by Bob Ezrin, plus “Titanic Overunderture,” a powerful blend of vintage recordings and brand-new parts.

Alice, Neal, Michael, and Dennis reunited with their producer Bob Ezrin in an old-school recording studio in Connecticut, rekindling the magic from the 70s.

This album is a celebration of friendship, nostalgia, and the timeless sound that solidified Alice Cooper as a rock icon. Fans can expect a powerful and nostalgic experience that bridges the gap between the band’s storied past and their vibrant present.

From the venomous bite of “Black Mamba” to the rebellious charge of “Wild Ones,” and the soft, haunting melodies of “See You on the Other Side, ” every track feels like a rock ‘n’ roll classic.

“The Revenge Of Alice Cooper” is going to be released on July 25, 2025, on earMUSIC in a wide variety of formats and limited vinyl colours.

Also available as a limited box set and as a limited art print (smart format), featuring exclusive access to two bonus tracks from the start, plus the full album automatically delivered as a high-definition download on release day.

PRE-ORDER THE ALBUM “THE REVENGE OF ALICE COOPER” HERE.

The original Alice Cooper group – Alice Cooper (vocals), Michael Bruce (guitar), Dennis Dunaway (bass), Neal Smith (drums), and Glen Buxton (guitar) – redefined rock in the early 1970s, blending raw, hard-hitting music with shocking theatricality. With Bob Ezrin at the helm, they pioneered shock rock, delivering rebellious anthems, dark storytelling, and over-the-top stage shows featuring guillotines, snakes, and macabre theatrics.

Albums like Love It to Death (1971), Killer (1971), School’s Out (1972), and Billion Dollar Babies (1973) turned them into superstars, producing legendary hits like “I’m Eighteen,” “Elected,” “School’s Out,” and “No More Mr. Nice Guy”. Their mix of hard rock, glam, and horror made them one of the most influential and controversial bands of their era, leaving a permanent mark on rock history.

Alice Cooper has sold countless millions of records worldwide and shaped rock history forever. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, their music remains as powerful and relevant as ever.

Now, with The Revenge of Alice Cooper, the original band reunites for one more epic chapter, reclaiming the sound and legacy that made them legends.

You are one of the Cursed Ones. Together, we’re celebrating our biggest headline tours, this unforgettable year, and the unstoppable spirit of CURSED.”

Written and recorded in isolation in the Canary Islands, Cursedwas produced by Ron Deris at Misueno Studios, with final touches from longtime collaborator Florent Salfati (Landmvrks). Each song is tied to a symbolic flower, forming a broader conceptual arc built on themes of betrayal, sorrow, rage and resilience. Standouts like Hatred,” “Love Burns,” and “My Blood On Your Hands” showcased a band willing to evolve—balancing staggering heaviness with emotional depth.

The new material featured on Cursed: The Complete Editionfinalises that arc. The brand new, currently unreleased track “I Am A Cursed One” delivers a final, furious statement, while “River Of Sorrows (Unplugged)” offers a rare glimpse of the band putting their vulnerability front and centre, stripped of the usual chaos that surrounds them. Been Stellar Return With Melodic Noise-Blast “Breakway”

0

New York’s Been Stellar have shared their first single of 2025, the distortion soaked and melodic “Breakway.” The single follows a breakout year that saw the band release their debut album Scream from New York, NYvia Dirty Hit, tour with The 1975 and Fontaines DC, and pack out clubs on their own merit.

“We needed to capture a few feelings with this song. Some mixture of sadness, anger, regret— and ultimately optimism,” shares vocalist Sam Slocum“When Sky first showed me the initial idea it struck me how punchy yet melodic it was. There were already a few emotions in the guitar part alone, so the words followed naturally and the song came to life. We quickly brought it into the studio with Aron (Kobayashi-Ritch) and recorded it together live.”

The single arrives just before the band’s Primavera debut, and a run of EU & UK dates including three stops with Fontaines DC in LondonLyon & Arles. Tickets available HERE, and watch the video for “Breakway” below.

Scream from New York, NY is a remarkably brutal debut – bruised and volatile, it captures an image of ‘20s New York that’s unrelenting and harsh, where tenderness is a finite resource burned up by the machinery of the city and human connection is a luxury product. Leaving behind the driving shoegaze of their early recordings, the NYC-based five-piece tap into the disaffected sound and spirit of New York luminaries like Sonic Youth and Interpol, as well as the nihilistic, yearning cool of Iceage and Bends-era Radiohead, striking upon a sound that’s fearsome, buffeting and beautiful at the same time – a tidal wave as viewed from underneath.

As its wry title implies, Scream from New York, NY, is a record about what happens when language fails – between friends, partners, a city and its citizens – and the primal scream you might let out when words just don’t work anymore.

Preceding the album release, Been Stellar shared a handful of standout singles including the white-knuckled and cutting “Sweet,” the ferocious late-album highlight “All In One,” the masterfully dynamic “Pumpkin,” and head turning lead single “Passing Judgment.”

Like so many other dyed-in-the-wool New York bands, Been Stellar are transplants. Guitarist Skyler Knapp and vocalist Sam Slocum first met in their freshman year of high school a decade ago; members of the cross country team, they bonded over the band t-shirt Skyler was wearing and decided to start jamming together. In Michigan, they started performing under the Been Stellar name, but it wasn’t until the pair began studying at NYU that a sound started to coalesce and the band took shape.

Determined to break new sonic ground, the band embarked on a relentless practice schedule, even renting scrappy studios on days off during tours with Fontaines DC and Shame. After befriending him at SXSW, the band tapped producer Dan Carey (black midi, Wet Leg) to help coalesce the disparate elements of their sound that had been percolating: forceful, driving physicality; pop classicism; gnarled beauty; and a rich emotional core. The resulting 10-song album announces Been Stellar as gimlet-eyed chroniclers of contemporary youth, staring through noise and confusion into the dark heart of modern life. These songs embody the spirit of a city that makes and breaks its inhabitants on a daily basis – an irony befitting the album’s tone: Been Stellar’s preternatural ability to capture the disconnection that haunts New York with photorealist detail might just be the thing that vaults them into its pantheon.

Teethe Announce ‘Magic Of The Sale’ LP, Share New Single “Holy Water”

0

The Southern slowcore band from Texas, have shared “Holy Water,” the arresting new single from their forthcoming new album, Magic Of The Sale, out August 8th via Winspear. The track arrives with a video by Alan “Rickman” Official. The track features lead vocals from the band’s Madeline Dowd and pedal steel by Wednesday and MJ Lenderman’s Xandy Chelmis.

Paste Magazine, who profiled the band today and named them The Best of What’s Next, is saying “the record is an honest, stripped-back walk through life’s universal heartbreak, from the acceptance of our mutual exploitation to the lies we tell ourselves to just get through the day. The results are as solemn as they are beautiful.”

The band announced the album last month with a video for its title track “Magic Of The Sale,” which was named the Best Song of the Week by Stereogum who praised its “hi-fi production and a grandiosity,” saying “there are flashes of ambient and indie-pop and emo and post-rock threaded into the song’s slowcore foundation, all of it cohering into a gorgeous slow-build swoon that levels off into a cloud of euphoric melancholia.”

On Magic Of The Sale, Teethe unveil their sad and beautiful world, where the Texas band’s four distinct songwriters, singers, and artists ask a series of interlocked questions about what it means to build a life in a time of shared collapse. Magic Of The Sale is a soft but steely record about the worst quandaries we can encounter, from being trapped by an existence we didn’t entirely create to the hell that other people can be.

Teethe is hitting the road this fall and winter on a tour that includes a stop at Pitchfork Music Festival London in November. All dates below.

Magic Of The Sale is an expansive next step for the band, one that folds new collaborators into the mix—Xandy Chelmis of Wednesday, Charlie Martin of Hovvdy, Logan Hornyak of Melaina Kol and several other veteran musicians. Still, Teethe took special care to preserve the part of the process that made their debut so special, now with expanded toolkits. On Magic Of The Sale, they’ve boosted their gear and home studios and dug into the craft of composition and production. Without an outsider producer or engineer, the band’s Boone Patrello spent four months mixing the record–taking the patchwork of tracks from each member and their collaborators and funneling several visions into one complete picture. From a long-overlooked pocket of Texas’ musical wealth, Teethe returns with a deeply layered and collaborative work that makes the weight of the world feel a little lighter to lug.

Before there was Teethe, there were other acts and assorted solo projects, all outlets for the four people who would eventually become a single band to write and record songs of their own. In Denton, Texas, a little more than a half-decade ago, the music scene gradually did what any good one should do: connected people with shared interests and sensibilities and encouraged them in turn to push, collectively, a bit further. For Teethe, the dual nexuses were house shows and a mutual enthusiasm for home recording. Four songwriters began to share once-siloed works, rounding out one another’s drafts until they’d steadily but casually built a recordTeethe’s 2020 self-titled debut, a loose and warm 12-track collage of exquisite existential blues and twilit harmonies. Their expectations were modest, but a few early cassette runs slowly led to several sold-out vinyl editions, unlikely name-drops from mega-stars, and several tours across the United States and Europe. Born of living-room jams and DIY spaces, Teethe seemed to stumble toward success on a path they proudly made themselves.

A decade ago, not long after Teethe founder Boone Patrello began his band Dead Sullivan, he met Madeline Dowd during their earliest days at the University of North Texas. She started a band, Crisman, and then joined the group of Grahm Robinson, MAH KEE OH, for a tour alongside Dead Sullivan. After Jordan Garrett joined Dowd’s Crisman in 2019, the four people who would soon become Teethe were effectively interconnected. They played with one another in living rooms after their other bands finished practice and tinkered with reel-to-reel experiments, the stakes as low as any hangout but the connection high. If all those band names and rendezvous points along the way get confusing, just remember: They allowed the then-inchoate Teethe to connect without pressure or expectation, to discover the language they soon captured so elegantly.

Dowd painted the cover of Teethe’s first album, the confused look on the character’s face warped with worry and distorted by drips of pigment that suggest green tears. A similar figure reappears on the cover of Magic Of The Sale, again painted by Dowd. But that grimace of endless exhaustion is gone. Clad in red and caught mid-stride, they look more like a jester, a cool curiosity splashed across their face as they stand in an archway to welcome you to the vast world of uncharted land and sky just in the distance. That is how Teethe feels and sounds throughout Magic Of The Sale—newly confident but still full of questions about the unknown, about what comes next.
