Erasure Announce North American Tour

0

ERASURE (Andy Bell and Vince Clarke) today announce a North American tour produced by Live Nation set to launch January 14, 2022 in Miami before wrapping up in late February at The Venetian in Las Vegas. Pre-sales begin tomorrow with tickets available to the general public beginning Friday, June 25 at 12pm local time. Bag Raiders will open each date with a DJ set.

News of the North American tour follows the 2020 release of Erasure’s rapturously received eighteenth studio album, The Neon. Featuring jubilant songs such as “Nerves of Steel,” “Hey Now (Think I Got A Feeling),” and “Fallen Angel,” The Neon was met with widespread critical acclaim with critics and fans alike praising Andy and Vince’s euphoric reemergence at a time when the world needed them most.

This summer, the duo will release The Neon Remixed, a collection of reimaginings of songs from The Neon by artists such as Kim Ann Foxman, Hifi Sean, Octo Octa, Paul Humphreys (OMD), Andy Bell & Gareth Jones, Brixxtone, Theo Kottis, and more. Also included is the brand new single “Secrets.”

The Neon Remixed is set for release July 30 on limited edition (first pressing only) double colored vinyl and gatefold CD, both packaged in a mirror board sleeve. Pre-orders via MuteBank and Lexer Music will be entered into a draw to win a bespoke neon sign designed by Yellowpop.

Written and produced by Erasure, the album’s initial sessions saw Vince and Andy reunite to work on the follow up to 2017’s World Be Gone with a fresh optimism and energy, in part born from their own recent personal projects. Vince goes on to explain, “Our music is always a reflection of how we’re feeling. Andy was in a good place spiritually, and so was I – really good places in our minds. You can hear that.”

Taking inspiration from pop music through the decades, from bands Andy loved as a child through to the present day, he explains, “It was about refreshing my love – hopefully our love – of great pop. I want kids now to hear these songs! I wanted to recharge that feeling that pop can come from anyone.”

The Neon vocals were recorded in Atlanta, Georgia, with Vince joining Andy at the studio sessions, and the mixing was done by the band in London earlier this year. Photographs were shot at that time in the unique environs of Gods Own Junkyard, a gallery housing a huge collection of vintage neon. Andy enthuses, “I felt like it was being inside a virtual reality game. I loved that it felt like being in a different world. That’s what I want our new album to convey.”

Beatles, Bob Dylan, Prince, and Kurt Cobain featured in Marvels of Modern Music Auction

0

“Summertime, and the bidding is easy”—with over 400 items spanning the history of popular music, RR Auction’s summer installment of our Marvels of Modern Music series is sure to be a hit. From the Beatles and Bob Dylan to Prince, Kurt Cobain, and Lady Gaga, icons of the past and present are represented in this sale.

Among the many chart-topping items is a fully signed Meet the Beatles promo album. The album is signed and inscribed on the back cover to George Harrison’s older sister Louise. Beatle’s albums inscribed to one of their family members are virtually nonexistent and hugely desirable.

Prince’s stage-worn lace shirt from the Purple Rain Tour. The long-sleeve shirt from the blockbuster 1984-85 Purple Rain Tour, gorgeously constructed entirely of sheer lace with a vine-and-leaf pattern, featuring a high-neck collar, three layers of ruffles on the chest, pearloid buttons down the front placket, and ruffled faux-French cuffs with stunning sewn-on blue jeweled cufflinks.

Also up are the handwritten lyrics for Prince’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U.’ From the collection of Prince’s assistant Therese Stoulil and is accompanied by a letter of provenance, stating that months which reads, in part: “After 10 years of working for Prince, I resigned in May of 1996. And it was months after that there was a knock on my door, and I looked out the bedroom window and saw a black BMW in my driveway and immediately recognized it as Duane’s, Prince’s half-brother. I went downstairs opened the door, and he only said ‘this is from Prince’ then he got in his car and left. Once I realized what Duane delivered, I was both stunned and humbled. Prince would use white console marking tape to adhere the lyrics to his vocal microphone; that tape is still on both pages.” ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ was featured as the sixth track on The Family’s 1985 self-titled debut album. Five years later, the song became a best-selling hit when Irish singer Sinead O’Connor covered the song for her second studio album.

Among other Prince, lots included: An exquisite beaded jacket worn on-screen by Prince in Under the Cherry Moon, Prince studio-played Fender Acoustic Guitar for the Diamonds and Pearls album, Prince stage-worn Gold’ Jam of the Year Tour’ Outfit.

Autograph lyrics for ‘Like a Rolling Stone’ by Bob Dylan. The immensely desirable one-page handwritten lyrics for Dylan’s breakthrough single, “Like a Rolling Stone,” on The Dorchester of London letterhead, signed neatly at the conclusion, “Bob Dylan, 2010.” Accompanied by a 2013 letter of authenticity from Jeff Rosen, president of the Bob Dylan Music Company, which states that to the best of his knowledge, there are only five of the manuscripts known to exist for the song as of the date of this letter.

And an Eddie Van Halen’s stage-used Charvel guitar. The EVH Art Series electric guitar with yellow and black stripe pattern played during a Van Halen concert at the Scottrade Center by Eddie Van Halen, who has personally hand-striped the body and signed in silver ink.

Among other fan favorites; Kurt Cobain & Courtney Love’s personally-worn dresses, Lady Gaga’s personally-worn black satin dress by Alexa Chapman, Rihanna’s personally-worn Paris Fashion Week ‘Fear’ shawl, and a Beret worn by Harry Styles for his Variety ‘Hitmaker of the Year’ photo shoot.

Bidding for the Marvels of Modern Music Auction from RR Auction began on June 17 and will conclude on June 24, 2021. For more information, go to www.rrauction.com.

Bryan Ferry Announces First Six Solo Albums Back On Vinyl, Out July 30

0

In 1973, while Roxy Music – one of the most unique, influential, and important bands of their generation – were still riding the cusp of a wave, frontman Bryan Ferry launched an audacious solo career that went on to cement him as one of the greatest and unique performers and songwriters the U.K. has ever produced.

His first six solo albums, These Foolish Things (1973), Another Time, Another Place (1974), Let’s Stick Together (1976), In Your Mind (1977), The Bride Stripped Bare (1978) and Boys and Girls (1985) have been remastered from original tapes at Abbey Road Studios and cut by Frank Arkwright. All six releases are pressed on 180g black vinyl and feature enhanced versions of the original artwork overseen by Bryan Ferry.

Bryan Ferry’s solo work has shaped the course of contemporary rock and pop music. Through classic love songs such as “Don’t Stop The Dance” and “Slave To Love,” from 1985’s Boys and Girls, and his work across a range of musical styles from filmic electronic soundscapes to recreations of New Orleans and Weimar jazz bands, Ferry has continually affirmed his position as a musical icon.

Aside from his own compositions, an equally important aspect of Ferry’s work has been his re-styling of numerous songs from different genres. The first of these was the ground-breaking and critically acclaimed (and to be reissued album) These Foolish Things. From unique renditions of Lesley Gore’s “It’s My Party” and The Miracles’ “The Tracks of My Tears,” to astounding versions of Bob Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” and The Beach Boys’ “Don’t Worry Baby,” These Foolish Things has (The New) Rolling Stone Album Guide giving it five out of five stars and describing it as a “conceptual and musical tour de force.”

With the rare distinction of being regarded as both classic and contemporary, Bryan Ferry is acknowledged as the writer and singer of some of the most loved modern pop songs, and a driving force in the avant-garde.

Lorde Returns With “Solar Power” Album and Announces 2022 World Tour

0

In a surprise move, GRAMMY Award-winning multiplatinum artist LORDE released new song “Solar Power.” The song, which appropriately dropped timed to the only solar eclipse of the year, came alongside the announcement of her highly anticipated third studio album of the same name, Solar Power. Today the artist additionally revealed the album release date as August 20th and announced her 2022 World tour dates. The 40+ show tour, promoted by AEG Presents in the US and Canada, is her first North American tour since 2018 and kicks off in North America in Nashville on April 3 at the Opry House before concluding at the Santa Barbara Bowl on May 7. Tickets go on-sale to the general public starting Friday, June 25, 2021 at 10am local. Fans can sign up for Lorde’s email list for first access to pre-sale tickets and for more info on tour dates HERE.

“Solar Power” debuted to fan and critical acclaim, with Billboard stating, “Solar Power” is a fresh chapter in a riveting book, and Lorde fans should be thrilled to meet this new author.” The Guardian called the song, “… a distinct reinvention, one that gleefully puts a gap between Lorde and everyone else in terms of her creativity” while noting, “Lorde’s comeback single is a lesson in letting pop stars take their time.” Since its debut last week, the song has garnered five star reviews from places like NME and Pitchfork, has trended #1 worldwide across social media, raked in over 30 million streams in it’s first five days, and was #1 on Spotify’s Global and US Song Debut.  The song is the first single from Lorde’s forthcoming third studio album which will be released via Universal Music New Zealand on August 20th. The album includes 12 tracks and is produced by Jack Antonoff who she collaborated with on her chart-topping last album, Melodrama.

Of the album Lorde says, “The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors. In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learned to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through.”

Of the single she adds, “The first song, also called SOLAR POWER and written and produced by myself and Jack, is the first of the rays. It’s about that infectious, flirtatious summer energy that takes hold of us all, come June…”

To honor the natural world the artist is presenting the album in a first-of-its kind, discless format. An eco-conscious Music Box will be available for purchase as an alternative to a CD. This innovative offering will contain extra visual content, handwritten notes, exclusive photos, and a download card. The card will give purchasers a high-quality download of the music, two exclusive bonus tracks, and access to some special surprises along the way.

When talking about the concept Lorde says, “I decided early on in the process of making this album that I also wanted to create an environmentally kind, forward-thinking alternative to the CD. I wanted this Music Box product to be similar in size, shape and price to a CD, to live alongside it in a retail environment, but be something which stands apart and that’s committed to the evolving nature of a modern album.”

Sunglasses: Some essential tips for choosing the right ones

0

The choice of glasses depends a lot on the person’s style and personality, but regardless of the product’s appearance, it is essential to make sure about its quality.

Sunglasses initially had the sole purpose of protecting the eyes from the glare and rays of the sun. Currently, they have started to follow the look and play an important part in the composition of a person’s look and style, after all, each model of sunglasses conveys an “image” of the person.

Whether just for protection or to give an “up” to the look, it is always worth investing in good quality products, after all, the lens is essential to block UV rays. If you’re going to buy prescription sunglasses you should put your attention on quality.

And when it comes to design, what counts most is choosing the models that match your style. For example, if you like sports and your style is cool, bet on mirror-lens glasses and mask-style models.

Below you can find a series of important tips from an ophthalmologist to choose your sunglasses well, and also some options of eyeglass models at different prices, as well as inspiration to make your choice.

The main points that should be taken into consideration when choosing the right sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV rays and excessive glare:

What is the importance of wearing sunglasses?

Frequent and prolonged exposure to the sun can allow the progression of cataracts, pterygium (common in tropical countries), senile macular degeneration, and corneal & conjunctival tumors. Therefore, the use of sunglasses with ultraviolet A and B sun protection, even by children, is very important to prevent diseases like these.

Is there any type of lens that is the most suitable?

The lenses need to offer protection against the sun’s ultraviolet radiation (UVA and UVB). In addition, the colors of the lenses provide different forms of protection, which must be taken into account when choosing sunglasses:

– The amber and brown ones, for example, are more suitable for nearsighted and farsighted people, as they protect against the blue light of the sun, which can favor the appearance of cataracts.

– Browns, grays and greens are ideal for people over 60 years of age, as at this age there is usually a loss, to a greater or lesser degree, in the ability to contrast vision.

– Gray lenses are also suitable for those with astigmatism and farsightedness. They reduce glare without altering natural colors and can be used in bright sunlight.

– The blue ones provide greater comfort when using the computer, as they eliminate red and yellow tones. It is important that before purchasing your sunglasses, the person consults an ophthalmologist to find out which lenses are best for you.

Is it dangerous to wear glasses without provenance?

Using fake models or with poor quality lenses can have the opposite effect, increasing solar aggression. Therefore, it is always important to make sure that you are purchasing a product with a recognized brand and manufacturing guarantees.

Choose your glasses according to your personality

When choosing the ideal glasses, first think about your needs, your lifestyle and preferences, and then follow the following tips to make the right choice:

– Rectangular glasses reveal a strong, centered, determined personality. Your look will become more serious. Is this your intention?

– Rounded glasses express delicacy, softness, calm. Anyone who is already too calm and needs more attitudes should avoid this format.

– Triangular glasses are composed of sloping lines that convey feelings of dynamism, joy and relaxation. It reveals lightness and joviality in expression and enhances creativity.

– Square glasses convey the message of stability, security and power.

– Thick frames express a striking personality, while thin frames reveal more intellectuality.

Now you know the important points before buying sunglasses. Hope this article was useful!

Boslen Releases Fierce New Single “Quartz (Feat. Charmaine)”

0

Today, Vancouver-bred alt-hip-hop newcomer Boslen shares his latest single, a hard-hitting and hypnotic track called “QUARTZ.” Featuring Zimbabwe-born rapper Charmaine, “QUARTZ” is the third single released from Boslen’s forthcoming debut album DUSK to DAWN, due out later this year.

Produced by justsayin, Stoopid Lou, and Dalton, “Quartz” is the latest offering from a fast-rising artist with a proven track record of boldly defying genre boundaries. This time around, the 22-year-old phenomenon delivers one of his most formidable tracks to date, showing the full force of his commanding vocals and expert wordplay (“Never needed/No coke/Or pills/Or fat lines/Jokes on you I’m too high…I got the dopamine in my mind”). As “Quartz” unfolds in sinister textures and brilliantly warped beats, Charmaine slides in and shows off the fiercely magnetic vocal presence previously glimpsed on her unstoppable debut single “BOLD.”

Revealing his passionate refusal to stay in one lane, “Quartz” marks a major departure from Boslen’s recent single “DENY (feat. Tyla Yaweh),” a pop-punk-inspired track detailing a relationship gone wrong. Soon after premiering in March, “DENY” earned praise from the likes of HotNewHipHop, who hailed Boslen as “one of Canada’s most exciting hip-hop exports.”

Along with “QUARTZ” and “DENY,” DUSK to DAWN will feature Boslen’s early-2021 single “TRIP,” an R&B-flavored, psychedelia-tinged slow-burner speaking to the sacrifices he’s made to achieve success. The album will arrive as his first new project since the Black Lotus EP, a 2019 effort that peaked at #11 on the Canadian Apple Music streaming charts. Already known for his razor-sharp ability to move fluidly from genre to genre, Boslen is poised to accelerate his eclectic sound even further with the highly anticipated release of DUSK to DAWN.

Boslen is a 22-year-old trailblazing and genre-bending artist of Jamaican and Indigenous Canadian descent, based in Vancouver. Fusing hip-hop, rock, pop, and everything else under sun to craft his emotive rap ballads and bouncing trap bangers, he’s a sonic architect who meticulously takes part in the production of all his tracks. In 2018 he released his debut mixtape Motionless, then delivered Motionless II later that year. Arriving in early 2019, his single “Eye for an Eye” cemented his spot as a crucial force in the future of Vancouver’s sound. In July 2019, Boslen released “Hidden Nights,” which gained traction after receiving support from popular YouTube channel and entertainment company, the Nelk Boys. From there, Boslen went on to release his Black Lotus EP, which peaked at #11 on the Canadian Apple Music streaming charts. His momentum continued into 2020 with the release of “VULTURES,” a track clapping back at those who were taking advantage of him. As he continues to push himself creatively, Boslen is becoming widely known for his self-reflective lyricism, as well as his ability to seamlessly flow over pop, hip-hop, R&B, and alternative production. Later this year, Boslen will release his debut album DUSK to DAWN.
